ACC Issues

Hi,

I have the ACC installed, and I am really happy with it, especially when driving on the motor-way. It is a great safety item, and actually I find myself using it even on the country-roads.

Today though I was driving down to Chur in a bit of a snow-fall, and suddenly I get the "Driver Intervene" message, and then the "ACC Sensor Blocked". Obviously I had a snow build-up on the sensor, but it wasn't just the ACC that didn't work, it was also the normal cruise control that didn't work. At the next rest stop I pulled over and cleaned it up, and then all was back to normal. However, this leads me to the question;

Is there a way to go on using the normal cruise control, even if the ACC sensor is not working? I.e. is it possible to disable the ACC, and continue using normal cruise control?

There is a way to switch off ACC I have managed to do it by accident twice ... but I can't remember what the button presses were Big Cry
The SWMBO had the same issues with it (sensor blocking) going through the Highlands of Scotland last year in winter. Sons of dogs come hither and get flesh

It is quite annoying these days, as we are having snowfall like crazy. I need a solution, and fast. In lack of a way to turn it off, and my stealer also says he doesn't know how to, is there an ingenious way to prevent, or at least slow down, the build-up?

Far more important than ACC dropping out in snow, is, in my view, the alarming rate at which snow builds up on the headlight lens and doesn't melt fast enough - I was surprised how little heat is given off by the HID lamps, but getting out every 2-3miles to clear off snow that isn't melting and reducing the headlamp output to nil in a snow storm isn't my idea of fun. Last winter and again in the snow we have had here in the last 3 days when driving at night this is quite dangerous.

A way of switching the ACC back to ordinary cruise would be very useful, because there are times when I like to drive in cruise mode but acc isn't sensible

OK, so there is not much to do about it, it seems.

Then onto related question;

How do I get the annoying message of the top part of the info display? It takes out the whole top half and prevents me from seeing tempts, the time, etc.

Not sure about this...

What happens when you press the forward alert switch located on the dash (next to the master switches)?

I think you mean the button under the monitor? If so, in the situation where the sensor is blocked, it switches off.
