There is a way to switch off ACC I have managed to do it by accident twice ... but I can't remember what the button presses were

It is quite annoying these days, as we are having snowfall like crazy. I need a solution, and fast. In lack of a way to turn it off, and my stealer also says he doesn't know how to, is there an ingenious way to prevent, or at least slow down, the build-up?

Far more important than ACC dropping out in snow, is, in my view, the alarming rate at which snow builds up on the headlight lens and doesn't melt fast enough - I was surprised how little heat is given off by the HID lamps, but getting out every 2-3miles to clear off snow that isn't melting and reducing the headlamp output to nil in a snow storm isn't my idea of fun. Last winter and again in the snow we have had here in the last 3 days when driving at night this is quite dangerous.

OK, so there is not much to do about it, it seems.

Not sure about this... What happens when you press the forward alert switch located on the dash (next to the master switches)? What does it do? I think you mean the button under the monitor? If so, in the situation where the sensor is blocked, it switches off.
