Good to hear you have got some traction on your issue PA Thumbs Up

I cannot remember how many times I have had these bushes replaced or shims put onto the vehicle. In all seriousness, mine was in again before Xmas, here we are a little over a week since it got back and the knocking is as bad now as it was when I first had the issue. Big Cry Big Cry

Once it starts on the normal roads, you know it will only be a matter of time before it thumps on any surface.

I now have serious doubts whether we will actually see a fix for this, in the meantime we have to drive around in what are ridiculously noisy vehicles, which TBH is bl**dy embarrassing, not for me, but for Land Rover. By the time they fix this issue (if ever), it will most probably be time for a change and that's where it gets tough (for me). Dump what is arguably the best car I have owned, aside from the niggly issues and swap for a new one (knocking removed) or move to a German marque, which I would hate to do.

Every time this raises its ugly head again, I swear I will just get rid................but that's where the issue lies, I don't want to and neither should I have to. It's about time LR got vocal on this one and notified the poor B Censored s who are continuously suffering when a FINAL fix is due.

As a loyal LR owner, I am seriously F Censored d off with all this bu** Censored Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

Below (highlighted in Green) are the bits replaced on my car. As you will see, this is quite extensive and shows the various bushes, links and airbag suspension posts that my car has received:

I'm sure Will Wonka will be shouting "Told you so" but.................

I'm afraid he is correct. Having had peace and quiet for a while the rattling/knocking is returning. Particularly noticeable on the FNS on rough B roads. Seems ok as long as the road surface is perfect.

It sounds like something is loose and is about to fall off Exclamation It's back in the garage for a service next week so they can revisit this as well. Banging Head Banging Head Banging Head TDV6 - gone

Selling my RRS

Dear Friends,

I bought a new RRS TDV8 in Germany in August 2008, it had 14km when I drove it out of German dealer in Hamburg.

After about 800km of driving I started to hear a front suspension knock. Went to the dealer in Germany and I was told it was characteristic. I came back to Prague (where I live) went to the dealer and they told me it is a problem with DRS, they changed some bushes and the knocking stopped for about anoter 500 or so km. Now, the car of course knock when you turn the steering wheel from left to right, and of course the car also knock when you drive on cobblestones, which, Prague is full of, so it pretty much knocks all the time.

I have to other cars, Audi A6 3.0 TDI Quattro from 2005, I now drove over 170.000km on it and the car never knocked. I now bought Audi S5, made 3.000 km with it over Xmas, and the car doesnt knock.

My RRS is now being sold at the dealer in Prague ( I will lose about 6000 EUR on the car) and I am ready to lose more just to get rid off it. I feel sorry for anybody who will buy my car on any other RRS. With German cars on the market I just don't see why would I ever buy RRS. I guess we buy the cars for looks nowadays and not for what they are meant.

I can just keep warning people if you have money and are thinking of buying a Land Rover --- BUY A GERMAN CAR! I have never been more disappointed with the car and I am being dead serious, my 1999 Fiat Punto which was my first car was way better that this RRS, I also made over 100.000 km on my Punto, I think that if I would make half of that on the RRS the car would literally fall apart.

SAVE YOUR MONEY.

DO NOT BUY A RANGE ROVER!

As frustrating as the knocking is, I still love the car as nothing else feels, drives or looks like it and absolutely nothing handles everything so well.

Now i'm sure LR are convinced that this will suffice in most peoples purchasing decision and are somehow taking the lax approach to customer satisfaction on this issue.............my fear is, as it should be theirs, in today's economic sheep dip, that this is a very risky gamble and shall seriously backfire.

After 16 months living with this nightmare issue, which is STILL ongoing, would I buy the nice new 5.0 S/C..............you must be joking. £63k for a car that sounds like a Lada (suspension wise), I don't think so. I might aswell buy the Riva and keep the £62,500 in the bank!!

Now if that's my viewpoint, being a pro LR nutcase, how exactly are the marketing dept going to swing this around with owners new to the brand or more importantly stop the bad news spreading to their existing owners.

Lets face it and LR are the experts here, it took them years to shake off the shoddy image of leaky, creaky cars to be finally seen as a REAL alternative to the German wannabes, it will take only a little negativity on such an important issue to destroy ALL of that very, very quickly.

I am simply stunned that this issue still exists, ok fair enough, the mass market is the TDV6 which does not have the DR, but for F Censored s sake, 16+ months with no fix, you couldn't make it up.

A guy here went out and bought a TDV8 on the strength of my positivity for the model and nearly wained, he finally went for it, but for him only yesterday to come up to me and state, "it's done 6k miles now and its just started knocking". Shameful.

Its a real shame that we did not do the protest, I wonder how many would have participated if it was a model wide issue, or is it the years of Labour conditioning that now affects the majority these days?? Shocked

To be honest, the knocking is the only issue for these cars (and it only affects those with DR). There is someone who has done 260000 trouble free miles in his D3, which is basically the same. Would it be worth it to replcae the DR system with the normal front suspension from a TDV6? It can't be too difficult.

I wish LR would at least comment about the issue. They continue to sell cars that they must know are going to have this problem......

It seems to be pot luck as to who gets the knocking.

If I suffer the knocking and its not fixed permanently I will just return the vehicle - forcibly if required! WINNER - 2009 Best Newcomer Award

Agree Will, very sad that Land Rover continue to get away with publicly ignoring the issue, never mind fixing it!

It may have been pure coincidence but my perception (admittedly from afar) was was Land Rover executed the divide and conquer routine and it worked for them!

Just bought a tdV8

Having owned a tdV8 for only a few weeks (which has the knocking) and having used this (very helpful) forum a lot since I bought it, this is obviously the biggest issue impacting the RRS. If the forum can arrange nice get togethers for owners and drives around the country for fun why can't the members pull together (by region if necessary) and arrange for protest drives to Land Rover sites (dealers or manufacturers) to protest. Bad PR for Land Rover is the only way to apply more pressure. I would happily join in and I am sure many many others would....... anyone got a large printing press for some big banners and a few contacts at the motoring or national press??

I can see the headlines now -

RRS Owners get their knockers out!

Land Rover say no to knockers.

LR Dealership grinds to a halt as knockers descend.

RRS Owners ask Land Rover to take their knockers more seriously.

"Look at our knockers" say disgruntled Range Rover Sport Owners.

Land Rover to recall knockers for detailed inspection.

RRS Owners fed up with their knockers.

Land Rover suffer a massive increase in knockers.

Land Rover revenues fall as their knockers go untouched.

LR Sales Managers can't move for knockers.

LR bow to knockers pressure.

RRS Owners tell Land Rover "Your bushes can't fix our knockers"

Well had my service today.

And the rattling noise was explored. Needs a set of ARC Ram bushes as there is excessive play in them causing the noise.
Parts on order and booked back in early Feb Rolling Eyes

I'm sure this is about my 3rd or 4th set of these bushes. Could even be more Rolling Eyes TDV6 - gone
