I want to connect to Aux input on Back of Radio

Hi,

Does anyone know the pin configurations on the back of the radio as I want to connect to the aux input behind the dash ?

Standard 6 Disc Harmon Kardon head unit.

I've put in a bluetouch screen in the air vent and want to use the ipod connectivity, that comes with it, and it would be easier to connect direct into the back of the radio rather than have to run a cable back to the aux socket.

Many Thanks

Paul

Sadly no, and having had land rover blue tooth before I thought I would try a different solution. Paul

United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV6 S Santorini Black

Pete
Sorry to dig up and 'old' post, but i could do with a little advice.

Looking on the diagrams you posted, I've been trying to locate the wiring for the aux connector (red, blue and black wires). I have a XS (which I'm guessing is no different to a S model, electrically) so am assuming the low-line audio. Would I be correct in saying that although the head units are the same between low line and high line, there's no wiring from the head unit in the low line for an aux connector ? (I've been looking in the passenger footwell too and can't find the wires).

If not, can I buy the connector and wire it myself or is it only included as part of the kit ?

I've removed the ashtray in the rear behind the centre console where the aux connector would go on higher spec models and I have located a blue red and black set of wires going into a green plug, but not sure if these are for something else e.g. heated seats ?
Does anyone else have a picture of the connector that goes into the back of the radio ?
Thanks all for any help you can give.
Cheers

Hayden

if the wires arnt there then you can add them your self i would think.

Firstly, thanks very much for such a speedy response.
In that first link, the green connector and associated wiring looks very similar. If this is correct, it then begs the question, if it's in the rear console, it should also be in the passenger footwell, shouldn't it ?

I'll investigate further tomorrow and I'll multi meter the wires as I don't think they'll carry any significant voltage if they're the right ones.

Once again thanks very much for a very helpful response.

So I investigated and whilst I'm convinced the wires in the back are the right ones, they don't go anywhere !! Connector in front pass footwell doesn't contain those wires coming from the stereo ! So, I conclude that LR didn't fit any aux wiring to the XS !

Next ? Radio out !!!

Thanks for your help

Hayden

So i took the plunge and removed the radio, identified the connectors required (not the easiest thing to find the right ones !) and connected them to the wiring block. All works well, ipod cable comes up by the ciggy lighter (tapped into the wires here too so it charges) and no issues with volume levels.

Once i'd identified and ordered the bits I needed (about £12 in total, including the ipod cable) it took me just under 2 hours to complete, from start to finish. Very satisfied with the result.

Thanks for the wiring diagrams and photos, Pete. Very, very useful. The only downside ? No steering controls for the ipod tracks. Not the end of the world for me, as it's in a very reachable place down by the heater controls.

In conclusion, you can buy a cheap RRS (XS) and have an ipod !! Don't let the dealers tell you otherwise Very Happy
