Help with the removal of tail lights

Please can anybody tell me how to remove the tail lights-I would like to put in my new LED lights Bow down . I unscrewed the two screws but something else is holding it in Big Cry . I looked at the old posts and they are saying that there are some "holders" Shocked . 2008 RRS TDV8 HSE, Java black, Alpaca,.....

There isn't anything "physicaly" holding the tail light unit in place other than the two screws you have already mentioned. There are a couple of plastic "prongs" (for want of a better description) on the lamp unit, which line up with holes in the bodywork. This is what makes the unit hard to remove.

This may sound really crued but you need to get a large flat bladed screw driver, or similar type of instrument. Cover it in electrical tape or black masking tape, (to act a protection) and then slide it between the lamp unit and the body work. You can then gently lever the unit away from the bodywork.

As I said it seems drastic, but it's a lot easier and safer than it sounds. Arctic Frost TDV6 SE. Aspen Leather, Cherry Wood, Privacy Glass, PTI, Tow Pack, Mudflaps, Tasmods, a new Fuelflap, a RRSport.co.uk umbrella in the boot & a RRSport.co.uk sticker on the rear glass.

Thanks TB. Are those prongs on the outer side of the ligts (horizontal oposite side where the holes of the screws are) where there is almost no space?

PS. I just tried and managed to brake my wellness membership card Shocked trying to push those prongs Big Cry by the way half of my membership card is still between tail light and bodywork - so I think there must be "a black hole" under the light because I donīt see it Laughing

The prongs are opposite the screws - i 'gripped' the light with one hand and then thumped the back of my hand to 'dislodge' the fitting rearwards if that makes sense. A good gaffer tape stuck to the light may also give you purchase - i was very wary of paint damage trying to lever between the paint and the light cluster....
