_simon_ already answered this earlier in the thread. You don't do anything. It just works. (The additional timer functions that Disco 3 had was a mistake, hence all the fuss in the Disco 3 forum.)

They are fitted to all the D3's and are there to assist warming the engine up on cold starts. Also make the heating system warm up very quickly.

{edit}

The FBH itself is automatic.

OK then, managed to find out a little bit of info about the FBH tonight.

Early production vehicles only had the FBH fitted as part of the cold climate pack. Hence the reason why both VA & Tim have big gaps behind the nearside headlamps.

On current production vehicles the FBH is fitted as standard on all TDV6's.

Hope this clears up some of the confusion.

TB many thanks - now I'll have to insist that this is fitted because of poor starting etc. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

If you do not have the settings menu options you cannot even trick it into working by leaving the radio on.

The timer was never meant to be there and is removed by new instrument pack software on the D3.

And the software up date does not increase the speed of the engine warm up - just the air is circulated differently now so you get less cool air coming in when the engine is cold.

Simon - so if this is now standard fit surely that means that LR has decided that they are essential kit and early models of the RRS should have then retro fitted. Should I start insisting that LR do this? 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

VA, maybe you should suggest that you've got the wrong engine too! And that some of your body panels are all bent and wonky!! I can hear the phones of several LR dealers ringing already Wink

VA... glad you got a result. I was under the impression ALL TDV6 have the pre-heater. Is so on the D3 but they do tend to change the builds on these things.

We have 2 build variants for MY06 on the D3 for example.
