There's no escaping it's a good car and worthy of consideration if you are in the market for a luxury SUV.

Lots of talk about 7 seats and its performance, now the X5 comes with 7 seats how do the 2 compare - obviously neither is as good as a D3 but in the pseudo 4x4 market why is not so much said about BMW's offering? Porsche Cayenne S Diesel 66 Plate |

I've driven the new X5 and a few of the old ones.... the new X5 is as good as the old one in terms of driveability (with my "who cares whether it goes offroad" hat on), if not better because the new raft of engines are punchier than the ones in the old shape. The interior is miles better than on the old one, plenty more toys etc, but I do think the RRS is still a better value proposition. To spec the X5 to the level of an HSE, you're still paying more.

ST what I was getting at was there are lots of talk around 7 seat 4x4s. The Q7 gets lots of mentions, the D3, the GL but not the X5. The D3 doesn't sit too comfortably in this group as such, being far more off road orientated (although many reports do seem to prefer the D3) for many the luxury and on road performance is far more important. I assume the X5 being lighter would be a better drive, yet you don't see the 2 compared very often. And yes a blind man can see the difference. Porsche Cayenne S Diesel 66 Plate |
