...and breathe... Wink

Some good points made there.

We had a Q7 3.0 TDi S-line for the month of August when we came back to the UK and we were very impressed with the engine (Very quick and grunty), the quality of the interior (Head & shoulders above the RRS Sad ) and even liked the look of it (From the front ONLY!).

After all that, I would still have the slower, cruddier quality (Relatively!) RRS any day of the week Mr. Green Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

There's no escaping it's a good car and worthy of consideration if you are in the market for a luxury SUV.

However, what the Censored are they thinking charging nearly 100k for it? 100K!!!!! Shocked No-one pays 100k for an Audi unless it has a Lambo badge on the bonnet.

Lots of talk about 7 seats and its performance, now the X5 comes with 7 seats how do the 2 compare - obviously neither is as good as a D3 Whistle but in the pseudo 4x4 market why is not so much said about BMW's offering? Porsche Cayenne S Diesel 66 Plate

Err.... that'll be because i've driven a Q7, but not the new shape X5 Rolling Eyes

The previous model was a fantastic drive with a great engine.

I presume the new one is the same but better however i'm not really qualified to comment on it.

It is better looking than the Q7 though, that we can all see Laughing Thumbs Up Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

I've driven the new X5 and a few of the old ones.... the new X5 is as good as the old one in terms of driveability (with my "who cares whether it goes offroad" hat on), if not better because the new raft of engines are punchier than the ones in the old shape. The interior is miles better than on the old one, plenty more toys etc, but I do think the RRS is still a better value proposition. To spec the X5 to the level of an HSE, you're still paying more.

ST what I was getting at was there are lots of talk around 7 seat 4x4s. The Q7 gets lots of mentions, the D3, the GL but not the X5. The D3 doesn't sit too comfortably in this group as such, being far more off road orientated (although many reports do seem to prefer the D3) for many the luxury and on road performance is far more important. I assume the X5 being lighter would be a better drive, yet you don't see the 2 compared very often. And yes a blind man can see the difference. Porsche Cayenne S Diesel 66 Plate

Absolutely Pelyma Thumbs Up

Despite the D3 not necessarily being in the same group as an X5/Q7, bear in mind how relatively old it is vs newer competition yet it STILL wins group tests and 4x4 of the year awards (What Car?) Thumbs Up Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad
