$XX per barrell

Ok, it seems the prediction of $70 per barrel of oil when the black stuff reached $140+ was not so far fetched. Shocked Shocked

It has dropped to $98 today with the general trend downwards still predicted, even with the recent OPEC cuts to production.

Good news all round, however, as a general question, would this now deter you from dumping your beloved RRS or are you thinking long term its petrol suicide (tractor juice drivers can also reply).....I for one did not care anyway so this can only be seen as a bonus at every fill up. I heard it would be under $100/barrel by the end of the year a few months ago - seems to be happening quicker than expected by all accounts.

Scarce resource my a*se - wont be long until we realise the whole 'scarce resource' argument (metals, ores etc) will be shown up for what it is

Same as the housing demand - lack of supply - another pile of crap pushed by all those with Vested interest.

Rant over!!

Leo - generally takes 2 weeks for them to drop - they dropped around 5% over the last month - I would expect it to go down again by the E/Sept to E/Oct

.......................Until we get predictions of a long cold winter when suddenly there will be a shortages and price hikes.

I reckon all this fuss over the energy companies would be solved if they each had to give every customer on their books 100 shares for free............................ the dividends received in one year per household would cover most rises in the cost of energy, the directors would have to answer to a lot more shareholders and shareholders could also question why the directors need to have such big salaries............... If you chose to sell the shares then that's fine and dandy but you would loose out on the benefits 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Fuel price didnt bother us, in fact at the time of purchase I was seriously considering getting some stickers printed with something like:

"FU Darlin'" or "Does it look like I give a Sh17" I am well cheesed off with the whole 'fuels' issue we have in the UK - Gas is so expensive because we rely on imported resource and have destroyed most of our gas storage over the last 20 years, hence no stocks and reliant upon the market. Same for fuel, my local shell has just put diesel back up again to 125p, now before the scare I was putting Optimax into my S3 at less than 100p local to me, its still over 115p and still showing no signs of decline - amazing how quick it goes up and doesnt drop the same.

Sorry - Arghhhhhh - about to start ranting so I'll just shut it.

For what it's worth, the general consensus has been that if it breaks the psychological $100 mark, it will continue to fall.

As usual, the forecourt owners are trying to hold on to the high prices for as long as possible before they need to drop them. They are lower than they were, but looking forward to getting lower still... the next thing of course is this nonsense about the government's insulation scheme costing us!! There's no escape... Sad

Personally I would never let fuel prices affect my car purchasing decision. Not whilst I can afford to at least.
