Problem with RSS towbar

Tow bar dropping out?

I recently took the RSS with my caravan to the Sunshine Coast and had a teriffic time. At one caravan park a felow caravanner came up and told me that the unique tow bar on the RSS is dangerous as they are known to fall out! Has anuone heard of this as a problem?

I put mine on once and it came away in my hand where the latch hadn't deployed but that was poss my fault - once that latch has locked I cannot see it going anywhere but with the RRS

Anyway there is always the breakaway cable to rely on Rolling with laughter

(Oh this is for a trailer I have not a caravan)

The problem I have encountered isn't the towhook dropping out but the exact opposite - just occasionally it will not release when I want to remove it, I have had this happen with both RRs's I've owned. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

A thump on the side releases that I have found - rubber hammer or lump of wood.

Yup, I've used that method too MAW, also a occasional squirt of aerosol spray 3-in-one oil helps keep the lock mechanism free - DON'T use WD40 though as it evaporates too quickly to be any good as a lube. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Once latched and locked fully it wonīt go anywhere, but sometimes mine needs a tap upwards with a mallet to fully seat, latch and lock so there is no red visible.

I guess someone somewhere by now may have had one drop due to not locking it fully but I certainly havenīt heard of it. Cheers

Rolling with laughter I have had that also - worrying thing was the dealer said something like - replacements no problem they hadn't seen a different lock / key come through - sure enough new keys out of another one fitted no problem, so all someone needs to do is get a key and go around lifting removable towbars for fleabay Shocked
