United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Santorini Black
Yipeeeeeee

Now offically part of the gang!
Finalised a deal on a 06/56 RRS 2.7 HSE. Black with Ivory leather, 26kmls, 20" stormers, privacy glass, side steps, dvd rear entertainment, 1 owner, fully colour coded etc...

Can someone tell me if I have to declare any modifications to the insurance company. All these extras were "factory fitted" and this is what they ask. Where do I stand on this? Can anyone tell me if i should declare the wheels etc when they are factory fitted? Embarassed

Many thanks

best to tell them and let them make the choice if they will charge you or not

Anything you would have paid extra for from a completely standard car is the best way to look at it, better than them say sorry your insurance of the £20K+ is void

I will call them in the morning and confirm. Just wondered what others on here had done??

I hope that I will never need to claim but as you say if i do then i dont want a policy "void" for falling to declare privacy glass, wheels, sidesteps, rear dvd etc, all things potential thieves love!

I'd agree with npinks, anything you've added to deviate from how it came out of the factory gates is something you should declare. You should note that the car wouldn't have come out of the factory with Stormers on, even if the dealer did fit them pre-delivery so any money your insurance company pay out in respect of a write off, wouldn't include the cost of a replacement set of Stormers (unless you advise them and they get included).

Congratulations!! Thumbs Up

As S says, the Stormers will have been an accessory fit. Make sure you advise them that they are the same size as the optional factory wheels but just a different design, and also that they are supplied by the factory (just not fitted)!

Wishing you may miles of smiles!! (oh how cheesy! Whistle ).

Just a couple more questions... sorry I am a RR virgin. Embarassed

The suspension height can be adjusted (or am i talking rubbish?) and I like the look when it is in the lowest mode, I know the ride will not be as comfortable but can this be permanently in this setting and if so will it affect anything else?

Also how much will it cost me so the rear entertainment system can receive a tv signal/set up?

Lastly are the exhaust tips on ebay (£159) any good? It says he has sold over 600 sets!

You can't "jam" the RRS into access mode (the lowest setting) using anything that came out of the factory, but there are companies who sell a module that allows you drive over the limit that reverts it to normal ride height. To be fair, the suspension isn't designed tp be driven on in access mode so not something that's recommended Very Happy

As for getting a TV signal out to the rear screens, I'm not sure on cost. It would depend on whether you have the TV receiver already as to how much work is involved, I suspect. Have a word with forum sponsor, Prestige Audio (details on the Sponsors Page)
- although last I heard they were no longer doing car installs.

Exhaust tips are purely subjective of course, but again I would suggest checking out some of the forum sponsors who could help you in this respect.

thanks for the advice shmoogle, so the height I like is called access mode and if I wanted to I could park the car in this mode or does it do this automatically??
Sorry if these questions sound daft!!

You can certainly park in access height and when you come back to car and drive off again, it will revert to normal height when you go over 12mph (I think it's 12mph)... you need to specifically drop it into that height though as you park Thumbs Up

AD, Shmoogle is right. If you drive in access (Or off road 'raised mode' too), the car will give you a warning then revert automatically to standard ride height. Best not to override it IMHO Thumbs Up

its 12ish mph if you just press it to go into access height. Press and hold it and it will 'lock' into access height. You can drive up to 25 mph before it raises in this mode. I was in the same boat and wanted to lower the car before/when i bought it. Now i absolutely HATE it when i forget to go into normal height when ive just taken off and go over any kind of bump. Glad i didnt get the module. Especially for the stupid 1k+ prices!

The car does have a lower than "normal" suspension height that you can use when driving.......................

It's just that you have to be doing more than 110mph (I think) for it to lower for high speed stablity, not much use in the UK then Big Cry FFRR lowers it self for stability (down 5cm) at 65mph. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
