You should have had 55's before - 55's are what you need. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Could be wrong here, but I always thought that the profile (depth) of the tyre is reduced generally speaking as you go up in rim size to ensure the rolling circumference is the same - this means the speedo wont be out? Is this right? |

My tyres are 255/55 19 - I was presuming you are on 19's from the picture on your avatar. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

The standard size is 255/50/19, however, 255/55/19 is perfectly ok. The G4 RRS have Goodyear MTRs that come in 255/55/19 so LR see nothing wrong with it. In fact, you'll have a smoother ride. |

My understanding is that you took off tyres which have a higher speed rating than your replacements (i.e you took off Y Rated = 186mph and replaced with V Rated = 149mph. |

The profile number is the height of the side wall as a percentage of the width so the 255/55/19 will be bigger than the 255/50/19. By running a larger diameter tyre you will put your speedo out, acutally your speedo will be 3.5% out so when your speedo reads 60mph you will actually be doing 62.1mph. Apart from that running the 255/55/19 should not be a problem. Your new tyres have a higher load rating, so you are ok there and tumshie is right about the speed rating so you will be safe to 149mph. www.designerwheels.co.uk
