I bought a top of the line Pioneer Elite 50" Plasma a couple of years ago, with a remarkable picture. This winter, about three months out of warranty--the power board blew up. Luckily, Pioneer covered the repair and it is as good as new now, but I vowed to replace it with a big LCD screen, if I had to junk it.

By the way, I have several smaller LCD screens, and have found the Sharp to be the best. I would avoid Philips due to poor longevity.
