First "proper" Computer game I played was ZORK. It was a Dungeon's & Dragon's type game.I used to play it on a Mainframe system at my dad's work and it was totally text based, no graphics at all. It was brilliant, your imagination could run wild. Thumbs Up Whistle 2013 Discovery HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black

Oh yes, I too loved those text based games, most of the best created by a company called Infocom Thumbs Up

IIRC there was ZORK I, II & III.

The first one I played was "Adventure".

They can all be downloaded from the web.

But my favourite was "The Leather Goddesses of Phobo's" Which can be played online Here Cool

Did anyone ever play Valhalla on Spectrum?

It was typing based game for commands and was acted out by stick like characters on screen.

I seem to remember that if you typed any obscenity, a character walked on and slapped you 'Mary was not amused' I seem to remember it saying Laughing Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

Do you remember the Hobbit... that was a bit like that. Type in a command and it would give an amusing response... "enter Elrond"... "you cannot enter Elrond" Laughing

Another game with an odd message, Ant Attack... used to show "paralyse an ant" at the bottom of screen if you jumped on one.

Sometimes I wish I didn't have such a good memory.... you can tell all this was before I was pubic Rolling with laughter
