Yep, new joystick (a Quickfire II, if I remember) every 3 months or so. I never spent my pocket money on anything else but games and bits for the "computer".

Used to spend ages making up compilation tapes of all the games to trade with friends too. Then you'd go and get a tape full of games where they'd recorded them at the wrong volume and they'd never load properly! Shocked Big Cry Laughing They were the days.... no congestion charge, no credit crunch, fill up your car for £10 Bow down

I remember before ever getting my own car and driving my mum's "high quality" Rover 213SE Embarassed that it cost about £10 to fill it up. What was petrol then... 50p a litre something like that? Confused Passed my test in 88, granted this is a few yrs on from taping your mate's Spectrum games Laughing

Australia 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Chawton White

I learned to program on a C64 - our dad refused to buy us a tape recorder at first so that we would learn how the thing worked.. And when we did get a tape recorder - yes we went through our share of Quickfire II joysticks on Daley Thompsons Decathoon. Much better on the C64 than the Spectrum Whistle!!

Still have one in a box under the stairs with a few games and keep thinking about powering it up every time I see it!

Pretty much all the Spec/C64 games are available for free download now as the copyright has elapsed on most of them. All you need is an emulator to run them on and away you go... Thumbs Up
