How cold is the aircon?

Hi All,

Now that the weather is above freezing here in the North East, I actually turned on the aircon over the weekend.

I have to say I was not impressed as it barly blew cold air at all and on a hotter day I would think we would have been uncomfortable in the car with the aircon on fully.

Has anyone else had this problem or does it just need the system re-filling?

The RRS is an 08 model and has covered 6000 miles.

Should be pretty cold... I do remember there being an issue once with the aircon having to be recalibrated or some such. I think this was in tandem with the car taking ages to reach its operating temperature but I could be mistaken - wouldn't be the first time Wink

I can't imagine the aircon needs charging at this early stage... but worth dropping it into the dealer for them to look anyway.

I’ve just spent the last few days on the coast half way down Italy where we had outside temperatures of 22oC – 24oC and the AC kept us nice and cool.

FWIW
In the past I've have had similar problems with one of my other cars (that I use infrequently) where the AC does not seem to be cold enough. I have found that if you run the car to its normal operating temperature, then turn the heater to run Hot for a few minutes, then run it Cold, it seems to work just fine.

I do not think you will get any complaints from Down under, the aircon/climate control on the sport is fine and mine is on for about 80% of the year, and the system has not been touched/needed refilling in the 2 years of ownership. Make sure yours does not have a gremlin

Correct

Run it up to normal temp and keep air con going for 5-10 mins- doors closed with a small thermometer at the vent exit point - on dash.
You should be able to see it go down below 5

Trust me, the A/C works just fine!

Been over 30degC last week or so and sometimes have to turn temp UP as it gets too cold!!

It does however take a minute or five to get down to arctic conditions Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad
