My own experience is: no it doesn't exist. However, if on a slight gradiant and stationary, the gearbox may decide to drop it in 1st gear instead of the usual 2nd and will hesitate whilst it does so. This is not a problem with the amount of torque available from the TDV8 at low revs and is barely noticeable. If you lived in San Fransico it might be more of an issue! Go ahead with your purchase. Gone - 2008 TDV8, Stornoway Grey, ebony, zabrano trim, TV, Tasmods, mudflaps. |

It is less intrusive on the TDV8 but still there - due to how the EGR system works. There was a roadtest in one of the car magazines (could be Autocar, but I don't remember) where a LR engineer confirmed this. |

I find that if you put the pedal down quickly and fully it makes the lag worse and the resultant power surge more violent.

I believe this is also an element of turbo lag as (read in one of the many car mags) that this is a common gripe from TDV6 owners.

BigMart, that's a very good point. That is something I used to do a while back when slowing down for speed bumps as the 'lag effect' really got on my nerves.

That's exactly what it feels like ![]() I've often thought of the lag, as if something was getting choked up & had to clear itself, resulting in a burst of speed, when it does. At least now we know what causes it, but it doesn't help with the annoyance of it ![]() I wonder though why my previous '06 RRS didn't display as severe symptoms as my '08 does ?? |

The other thing which will limit torque is the steering angle sensor.
