United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Java Black
Damage to door

My TDV8 went in to have the window regulator changed under warranty. The dealer did a collection of the vehicle as I work in London. I returned home from work and checked the window.........all working fine. Then I noticed that the drivers door had a dent. Contacted the dealer and they said bring it in for them to take a look. Well they looked and owned up.........couldn't really argue as the dent was caused from the inside of the car.
I really let them have it big time. My issue was not that it happened, we all know s**t happens, but whoever caused the damage would have known they did it. They just finished the work and delivered the car back to me thinking that the idiot owner wouldn't notice. Not the customer service you should receive when buying any car let alone one that costs £50k plus.
Well they are fixing the dent this Friday.
They have offered nothing to me other than their apologies.
Do you think they should becompensating me in any way?
Would like to hear your thoughts.

Regards,

Stewhoppy

United Kingdom

Wouldn't say you were due compensation, personally.

You've found the issue, reported it, they've owned up and are going to fix it. Yes, it shouldn't have happened, but you haven't had to threaten them with anything to get them to do anything about it so I'd say the fact you've come out on top with no effort is good enough. You can't really complain, other than the fact that it happened in the first place, which I'm sure we'd all agree is a pi**ser, but they're fixing it. Job done, no?

The same thing could quite easily happen if you'd spent £100k or £200k on a car... I don't think value comes into it.

Well your out of pocket, stress and time lost chasing them, it needn't have been that way. If they had owned up immediately without you having been inconvenienced I would let it go, But this is not the case.

What do you need ?

I would ask for a new set of car mats, valet or some other nice accesory to sweeten the pain! Doesn't inconvenience the dealer much as they get them at cost anyway...

go for it they were the underhand ones.
