Ireland

Ok so, I’ve just been booking the ferries for our road trip to the London meet Cool

We’ll be sailing on the Friday to Fishguard, then off down the M4 to London, staying for the weekend. Then on Monday we’re heading to France for a few days, to visit the Normandy beaches, which I haven’t seen since I was a kid.

We’ll be sailing directly back to Ireland on an overnight ferry crossing from Cherbourg on Thursday 21st.

However, the only missing piece of the “Travel Jigsaw” is the Dover to Calais bit.

Originally we were going to try out the Chunnel. But I think rather than sit in a box, we’d like to take a sea crossing, so we can see the White Cliffs.

So guys, any recommendations for the Channel Crossing ?

I believe that there’s ferries departed nearly every half hour or so, is this correct ?

Is there any particular ferry company you’d recommend over the other ??

Any & all advice / opinions greatly appreciated Thumbs Up

A good ferry company is one that gets you there dry and alive. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
2009 Alaska TDV8 - Gone and much missed.

Indeed so VA Laughing

I’ve started my research for crossing the channel.

There seems to be only two ferry companies operating the route…..P&O & Seafrance.

For some reason I thought there were a lot more, but not to worry, two to choose from is plenty Thumbs Up

So any recommendations ??

Derek, I'd rather get the Eurotunnel every time mate - it's only 20 mins in the train and you're there - boarding etc is flwless and very well executed. Would always recommend it every time....but up to you. Did you book anywhere nice to stay for the weekend??

I'll PM you....

Yeah I'd love to try the train, but I can't help but wonder if a surface crossing might be nice, so we can see the cliffs.

Still working on that Wink

(Which reminds me, I must get researching on hotels in the Normandy region as well.)
