Speed camera detectors

Does anyone know if these GPS type speed detectors will work in the RRS?
Just wondering cos of the heated screen. Or is there a clear area for the signal to get through? TDV6 - gone
TDV8 - gone

If anyone is interested, AutoExpress this week has a speed camera locator product review. You can see the results at http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/product_test/...ators.html

Interestingly, the Road Angel products came out poor. Matt

When I took delivery of my RRS I was told informed that if was not possible to locate a GPS antenna on the dash because of the reflected windscreen. Absolute nonsense, my Origin B2 works perfectly and receives all satellite signals at maximum strength with the aerial placed at the bottom of the A pillar on the drivers side.

Thanks guys.
I saw the Autoexpress article. I think Road Angel got rated low because very soon the latest traffic law bill is going to ban radar detectors. Not that they are much good anyway other than to prewarn you you've just been zapped and to check the door mat for a letter Exclamation .
But I like the idea of the Talex type which tells you the sites whether there's a camera/laser or not. Plus they're getting cheaper. TDV6 - gone
TDV8 - gone

I'm sure there is a way to add cameras to the dvd. You would need a dvd burner. There is a way to decode the current DVD and figure out how POI's are saved and icons are selected. You could add to the list and re-burn the DVD and use it. It's been done on other car models. I just takes someone tech savy to figure it out and post instructions for everyone else.

Lol. I am not that man at all. There must be some software engineers/ computer programers on here. Martin, it may be worth it to call the company who supplies the DVD's to LR and ask them how to add POI's

Er, not to be pi**ing on anyone's fire here but reverse engineering any copyrighted software is going to be illegal. This will probably include the DVD-based data as well. You'd need to know the format of the data on the DVD, get the camera location data, format and insert that data so that it didn't break the integrity of the existing data then change the SatNav software so that it could read and work with the speed camera data.

I'm willing to be proved wrong but it's not going to happen outside of LR Smile
