remapping the V6 diesel

I am thinking of getting my Sport remapped to give her a bit more bite. How do they respond to a bit of tuning and is there anything I should look out for?!

Thanks
Ronnie

Ronnie,

It's a whole lot better for being tuned. TDV6 really needs it and you won't regret doing it Thumbs Up TDV6 - gone

Yep, Agree. Mine was done by my dealer before the car was even registered! Test drove Chipped & Un-Chipped
versions and there is just no comparison! Thumbs Up 2013 Discovery HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black

Ronnie i had mine done a good few weeks back and i am more than impressed with it. The difference in torque acceleration and overall power is amazing and the most important thing for me was it got rid of the terrible flat spot.
Not sure about places to have it done on your side of the water but i can reccomend a good place this side if you need it Thumbs Up 16 model year yulong white autobiography

There is obviously the site sponsors Thumbs Up

I had mine done by stuart at motorsport developments in fleetwood near blackpool dropped the car off and went to freeport shopping only five minutes away. They rang a few hours later to say the car was ready and we picked it back up and it was amazing.

The cost was £425 if you mention me as its usually a lot more Thumbs Up

That is the going rate for remapping over here.. I am getting the Rangie and my ST Mondeo done at the same time so that brought it down a wee bit but remapping is never really over £300 for any car. I think it is to do with the fact that NI is pretty small and there are alot of diesel tuners!

You cant live map these cars on the dyno unless you are using Etas Inca software which is manafacturer level software.

You can log live data and stop the car , adjust the mapping ,then restart the dyno run.

the problem is that there are soo many diesel specilaists over here that have been remapping diesel engines since the software has been available that it has driven the cost down and at £500 a map you would co out of business. the guy doing mine has all of the proper equipment to live map the range and has taken me for a run in a customers one that was mapped several months ago. I have a friend who has had his ST mondeo remapped by this guy and it is a vast improvement over mine. He will map the Range to be smoother and deliver a more even spread of power for daily driving moreso than just give it a load more BHP which is what I like!

Im glad that the price is very good for you , you are getting what most tuners will do which is a remap.

I think you missunderstand my post about the advise im giving you regarding live mapping.
You are getting a remap NOT a live mapping session.

Live mapping is where a data emulator is connected directly to the ecu and changes are made while the engine isrunning.
Live mapping CAN NOT be done by the OBD diagnostic port, the chq sum calculations needed for the changes inside the mapping are not fast eniough by OBD tokeep the engine running which is why an emulator is needed.

LIVE mapping can only be done on these ECUs with Etas Inca and the correct cables attached to the ecu. See my ecu picture attached.

If he is going to do this to your ecu then you may be getting a real live mapping session.
Live mapping is where valuse and data is changed inside the ecu WHILE the engine is running.

In all honsesty i cant see anyone in there right mind spending 10-20k GBP on tools for the live mapping of ecus and selling a remap for 200gbp.

If you are getting a real live map, then you are getting a stonking deal.

I may be wrong and there is a cheaper cable available , but i very much doubt it.
