2007 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Zambezi Silver
GPS AERIAL

Hi.

I bought the GPS aerial from EBAY.

Would you know how to remove the existing blanking plate off the roof of the range rover sport, so I can glue the aerial?

Thanks.

I have also ordered the dummy aerial from ebay, but it has not arrived as yet. I emailed the supplier about how to remove the blanking plate and they told me that it is held on with bolt/s. You have to remove the roof lining to unscrew the bolt/s. I had a look at it recently and decided that the best section to peel away was from the back (open the boot). If you push aside the rubber moulding you can gently peel back the roof lining, you will hear a couple of clips unclipping. Once the lining has been peeled back you can see the bolts holding the blanking plate (thats as far as i have gotten). It looks like it could be a little fiddly getting at the bolts - maybe a 2 person job as someone may have to hold the roof lining whilst unscrewing. Don't know yet as i have not recieved mine. Hope this helps - cheers!
P.S. Tell me how you went.

I have not seen any RRS with a blanking plate in place of the antenna.
However, this will help you gain access to the mounting of the antenna if you had one and hopefully you could see if the blanking plate is also fitted the same way...

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

I bought one through the local dealer when I had the TDv6 and got them to fit it........................ I was very glad that I did because it took a couple of visits back to the workshop to get it completely watertight. In very heavy rain I got a damp spot on the roofliner and when the car was left standing for a while there was a little puddle on the roller blind boot cover. I suspect that they sealed it with silicone sealant on the inside, but it cured the leak. Fitting and repairing the leak required removal of the headlining too................................ not a job to do by yourself. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

I have just received mine and i am still deciding whether to fit or not. I definitely will not remove blanking plate and place over holes as i am not confident that it will be water tight as it is hollow. There are numerous bundles of wires hanging at the rear of car roof and it probably is not worth the risk to do it this way. I was thinking of trimming the sides of the blanking plate and then screwing it back on roof and then placing the aerial on top of this. What do you think of this? My other option is to purchase a genuine aerial and screw this on.
