One word of advice if you've not had the side steps before, because they protrude out from the car, when you get in and out your trousers end up rubbing the dirt off them. My wife HATES the side tubes I put on my Range Rover as she is shorter than me and struggles to climb out without touching them.

A LR dealer will charge about £120 per hour for the job and the sidesteps. Their labour time is 1.5 hours so labour costs will be £180 Total price if done from a dealer is about £650 inc VAT 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Exactly. Side steps are for standing on, hence no dirty trousers You will probably find if you order them before it is PDI'd at the dealer and that they are installed by the PDI guys that you might not be charged the labour for fitting them. Worth asking TDV6 - gone TDV8 - gone Audi Q5 3.0 Tdi Sline wef 6/11/10 |

Thanks everyone; didn't see a cost like that coming but have negotiated the dealer pays a significant proportion for them. I think it's called good custom. I also see Marshalls are offering these on ebay at a cost of around £370 plus P&P. Are they easy to fit. Only takes a dealer 1.5 hours so shouldn't be difficult for me and the wife with my screwdriver!!

I seem to remember somebody tried to fit them themselves and it wasn't the easiest thing in the world. I think you need to make some mods to the underside to fit them and that's what causes the trouble. You may be great at this sort of stuff, but just think if it takes a service dept 1.5 hrs, it would be surprising if you could do it as quickly
