Newbie in need of some buying advice

Hi there guys,

I'm in need of some advice. I going to look at a RRS TDV6 tomorrow and i would like some opinions on the car, spec, mileage and price.

Its an 05 55 plate, Black with Tan Hide, HSE, Its also includes the HST kit as well as 22 inch alloys. The mileage is 59,000 and i'm looking to offer £33,000 with the original stormer alloys it came with.

This is the link to the website.

http://www.dealer.autotrader.co.uk/26342/leistingframe.htm (its 2nd from bottom)

In regards to the engine type, i currently have a CLK 55 AMG and am not really looking for something to replace the power as i will run that alongsifde the RRS.

But are there any problems i should know about in regards to ownership of this veichle.

All advice most welcome.

Many thanks.

The $1m dollar question! The HSE is the spec to have and extras are dependent on your life. I for one would want rear DVD's as I have small children. A must is to have the factory tint if you want tints, the after tinting is not nearly as good.
A ball park figure for a TDV6 HSE is take £5k off the price of the car when new in 1st year then about £350 per month after that. Obvious variations for mileage.

Hope this helps. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 SE Arctic Frost

One detail which is a little misleading from the advert is £8000 FACTORY FITTED HST KIT This kit was a dealer fit option, not factory fitted. But I don't think that is anything to really worry about.

There is no mention of price, so if the figures don't fall somewhere around the figures mentioned by Very Annoyed I would suggest you give one of our fellow Forum members - Kam100 - a shout. He has helped a few Forum members to find the perfect vehicle.

Good luck. Thumbs Up Arctic Frost TDV6 SE. Aspen Leather, Cherry Wood, Privacy Glass, PTI, Tow Pack, Mudflaps, Tasmods, a new Fuelflap, a RRSport.co.uk umbrella in the boot & a RRSport.co.uk sticker on the rear glass.

Hi,

That must be one of the very first RRS's registered.

It will be pre Dynamic Response, as it wasn't available on the TDV6 till 06 Exclamation

As it has been chipped, has non approved 22" sized wheels and only 6 months warranty left I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole Exclamation Exclamation Exclamation
You run a very expensive risk that the steering/suspension has been damaged by the wheels. It could be ok but you won't be able to see that.
Tan leather only came out this year. So I'm presuming its been done by Khan or similar. Ex Footballers car perhaps.

Having had a quick look on LR web site. There are plenty of used examples on there at that age and price with half the mileage that your example is showing.
Saw one for £35995 with 31K miles on the clock at my local garage. With the added advantage of 12 month LR warranty. There were loads of others some cheaper.

I would rather start with a non chipped version and have it done myself than run the risk that the 3 year old version has major mechanical defects waiting to happen at your expense.

My advice is - Don't be fooled by those big shiny wheels. All that glistens is not gold Exclamation Exclamation Exclamation TDV6 - gone

United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Rimini Red

The interior looks like Ivory leather which was a factory option, not the more recent Tan leather. Given the age of the vehicle, I also suspect the HST kit may have been factory fitted as in the early days of HST they were I believe fitted by Landrover themselves. The HST option proved fairly unpopular and so I believe these have only been available as a dealer fit option for the last year or so.

The vehicle looks as if it has been owned by someone with a taste for the "glitzy" side of RRS ownership and it may have been very well cared for at a cosmetic level and I bet its never seen any mud. However I would want to be very sure that it has also been mechanically cared for (you will want all service records and details of any warranty claims which might only be available from a LR dealer who can access the computerised vehicle history).

Josh makes some very fair points as well, in particular the effect the larger wheels may have had on the steering / front suspension, which can be a concern.

Ultimately this comes down to your taste (is this really the spec you want) and your appetite for risk ( a higher mileage, non standard vehicle, from an independent dealer with little warranty left, and even that is probably largely invalid due to the wheels and remap). You might use that fact to take the price well down below the ticket price.

Anyway, hope you find the right vehicle and enjoy RRS ownership Thumbs Up RRS TDv8 HSE Rimini

The HST kit was never fitted by Land Rover. It has always been a dealer fit item.

Infact it wasn't even available at the time this vehicle was built. It was not launched until late 2006 / early 2007. So this vehicle it would definately be an after sales accessory kit, fitted by a Land Rover dealership. Arctic Frost TDV6 SE. Thanks for all the advice guys, and yes Josh was right I have bought it. On the basis that LR will extend the dealer warranty for another 12 months. Eventually haggled down to £31,500, and an extra £500 for a brand new set of 20inch Stormer alloys with new tyres.

I appreciate that the mileage is high but i will be selling in June as I’m taking delivery of something even more shiny!!!!

There was a knocking sound coming from the rear on test drive, and the cambers were out as it pulled to the left. There is also a service due on the vehicle. All issues are going to be carried out at Main Dealer under warranty as well as service and a new set of rear tyres.

The condition of the body work was immaculate and I'm of the persuasion that if the Main dealer will extend the warranty then there surely can't be much wrong with it!

Again many thanks for all the help, i will try and get some pics up in a bit, but after reading a few thread on this site, it looks like HST's kits are frowned upon. Each to their own i guess!!

Again many thanks for the replies amd advice.

That would explain why it's not there anymore.... good luck with it, Navin. The dealer looks like he's spending a fair amount of money getting this all sorted for you. Very Happy
