United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV6 S Zermatt Silver
Retro-Fit/Aftermarket Sat Nav and I-Pod Video

Hi Guys,

Thinking of getting the below, what do you think

Touch Screen Monitor
http://www.dnacaraudio.co.uk/applogic/product/720/Alpine/

Ipod Video Adapter
http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/4859.html

Sat Nav DVD
http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-...-20273.htm

Rear-view Camera
http://www.caraudiodesign.co.uk/product_in...kup-camera

I am going to add a small amplifier and upgrade the speakers too, so hopefully the stock CD/Radio and the touch screen system can be wired to the amp.

All the parts together should cost below 2K, + fitting.

That would give me Sat Nav (on the go), ipod Video on the Touch screen monitor with full control, Bluetooth hands free (with discrete mic), rear view camera…

I have contacted Prestige Audio, so as soon as my car gets delivered (updated delivery date of the 15th Jan) Whistle I can go visit them and see if the above is possible.

I’ll let you know how I get on…

Cheers Range Rover Sport S Silver (Dealer Options) Front & Rear Mud Flaps, Side Steps, Chrome Fender Vents, Painted Door Mirrors, Colour coded door handles, Rubber Boot Mat (with RR Logo), Rubber and Carpet Mats

(Factory Options) Electric folding door mirrors, Micatallic paint, Privacy glass (to rear of B post), Leather trim, 20" 10 spoke alloy wheels. Colour Silver.

Coming Soon: Colour coded front grill, Fogs, Sat Nav, Sound System with full IPOD control and hands free Bluetooth thingy…

The ipod video adapter is the thing I like most! 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

SNAP !!!!! ... though u might have trouble with a 7inch screen... read on.

Interested to know how your IPOD video turns out and the connectivity required.

Having bought the SE I had the opportunity to retro fit a Sat Nav,, here is the deets of my previously posted article. Its the top of the range Alpine system and it 'Rocks', also fitted is the rear view camera.

Original post:- http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic4359.html?highlight=sat+nav

The Alpine products used were:

The DvD control box is situated under the false floor at the rear of the boot, the SaNav video control box lies under the front passenger seat with easy access to video inputs (in front of the rear seat 'kick bar' and with the air circ vanes relocated above the unit), the GPS aerial is situated under the top of the boot aerofoil (which is plastic), the speed pulse is hard wired to the main control box of the car and the TMC aerial is situated on the rear quarterlight window and looks like a heater element.

When reverse is selected you get a blank screen, or rear view if a camera is fitted - I decided to have a Pioneer 'mirror image' hi lux/ low lux camera fitted in the aerofoil- very small and discreet and I must say I find it useful too.

The whole package (SatNav,Screen, Ext spkr, Speed pulse, camera) c.£1400 (The SatNav and screen was a little under £1200) plus £250 to fit , cheaper than spending the 5k to buy the HSE when the only element of the HSE I liked was the screen..!! .. and I get a camera too, and Nav on the go.

I got a great price since he's done loads of work for me over the years and he fitted at my property. He operates in the London/SE area.

Biggest "issue" my chap had was cutting out a channel in the hard foam dash (under the rubber mat in your current set up) in order to set the pitch of the screen- one of those occassions where the untrained eye looks away and lets the pro do his work. Everything else was easyish (as far as i could see), I did need to get the product wired to the speed pulse to fine tune navigation. The 6,5 inch screen is tight with the finishing trim that was canabalised from a generic screen holding cradle, having the trim finishes it off nicely so I don't know if the 7 inch will be both too tight for the trim and pitch. We discovered the false floor at rear of boot by accident which is a great place for the DVD.

Good luck, it's a great compromise, I've had a few Sports and FFRR's run parallel to me at night on motorways inquisitive at my different colourful central display, particularly when navigating because you get very nice split display instructions.

Thanks for the heads up on the Ipod thingy... Mrs.BoldlyGo already sniffing at it.. Thumbs Up P400e HSE Portofino Blue and Ivory Seats.. it's like a yacht!!
