2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

Surely LR are selling enough Sports in the UK not to need to have Limited Editions? I was parked next to a Black S with satnav and ivory cloth today in Stirling - the cloth interior looks OK. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

I've only seen one or two S's they are are usually disguised with lots of optional extras and only the lack of a badge on the back gives them away, but some owners even put Suipercharged badging on instead! Last year the local dealer had a white S in the compound, factory order for a client - it had was so laden with extras that the owner would have been better off buying an SE or HSE, because come trade in time it will only be worth what a base model will be worth - most of the extras will be worth zippo. It had 20" wheels, leather, privacy, PTI, adaptive headlights Xenons, sunroof and just about every box ticked that an S can get ticked....................... pointless! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Maybe they didn't know they'll be better off with a HSE and the salesman didn't want to tell them either RRS TDV6 Gone but still around

No Bodykit Kaine, spec is definitely limited to the above.

if demand is still so high for the RRS, why introduce a special addition? any reasoning? do they just want to promote the lower priced version more?

I know what it is - LR have built a load of S spec cars that they just cannot shift so they stick on a few extras, an new badge and limit them to 300 and hey presto folks will flock into the show rooms to get hold of one of 300...............
However, used prices are now falling low enough that you can buy a very nice (OK so it will have high miles) 4.4V8 or TDv6 HSE for a bit less than this. The savings on a new XS you use to buy a cherished plate from the DVLA so the neighbours don't know you have bought a used car.

Of course it could also be away to get Joe Public into showrooms through advertising that tells them they can have a new RRS for £40k and then they see the higher spec used ones for less................................

The same reason they released the LE in the States, I suppose... to get rid of all those unwanted HST kits.

I'm fairly thick skinned, but somehow wish I'd kept that little snippet to myself!! Laughing

Bit of feedback on some of the responses:

(1) The XS will be to maintain interest in the model, and to offer a well specified package sub £40k. So in essence it's just something to keep things interesting for the beginning of 2008.

(2) Sales are still very strong indeed for Sport and up on last year, so it's not because they are not selling (good for residule values Thumbs Up ).

(3) It won't be a canceled order because of the specific options and colour limitations.

(4) HST (or Stormer) Bodykits are very difficult to get hold of and there is currently a large demand for them. I notice that the kit isn't that popular within the forum, but generally speaking we can't get enough of them!

(5) Yes it is quite similar to the SE Spec but there are a few key differences (bigger wheels, 'Premium' Nav and PTI) which would/could appeal to targeted buyers at that specific price point.

When I get some more information I'll let you know, but at 2-3 cars per dealership in the UK, I'd imagine that they will go fairly quickly.

More soon! Thumbs Up

James
