still in two minds about the TDV6 or a V8 with LPG conversion.

Hi Val - Welcome to the Forum.

My Dad has had his Full Size Rangie converted to LPG for a couple of years now. He swears by it! But, one word of caution - Having the LPG conversion done DOES invalidate your Land Rover Warranty on the Engine (Not the rest of the car though). It is therfore important to understand what the warranty from the LPG conversion supplier covers.

On the issue of savings - The LPG conversion has not changed the performance or fuel consumption of the car at all, so when you consider that LPG prices are on average (In N.Scotland anyway) around 50p a Litre, then it is much cheaper to run than with Petrol. The other point is that you will still need to keep some petrol in your tank as the car still needs to start with petrol and then it switches over to LPG automatically.

Hope this helps Thumbs Up 2013 Discovery HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black

thanks Endjin

i think what i'll do next is look at the mpg figures for the TDV6 and the V8 4.4 and maybe the SC and decide on what model to go for, LPG does seem very tempting at the mo, i know the cost will be around £2000-2500, but if i'm going to keep the vehicle for years to come then i'm hoping i'll make a saving, that is until the Gov decide to screw us on LPG as well as everything else, but when that time comes i think i'll take my rangie and my money to another country!

No Probs Val.

FYI - I've had my TDV6 since June 07 and have done about 10K. My average fuel consumption is around 27mpg. The car has also been superchipped which really improves the performance of the TDV6. The TDV8 is much quicker though, but at the end of the day I just couldn't justify the extra cost over the V6.

Good luck with whatever decision you come too. Thumbs Up 2013 Discovery HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black

27mpg!!! and its been chipped, whats going on with my bleedin saab then, i don't know if its the trip computer thats wrong, or maybe i need the dealers to look at it but the trip computer says that i'm getting 15-18mpg!!!

and the flippin environmentalist are bashing 4x4's maybe they should start looking else where instead, maybe look at owners of big jags and rollers and bentleys, you dont see our MP's or the royals giving a hoot about carbon emissions do you.

Don't know about Saab's Val - Never owned one myself. What I can say, is that My RRS TDV6 is less thirsty than the Audi A4 Avant S line 1.8T (petrol) that it replaced! The other thing is, I did an experiment a few weeks ago where I drove the RRS very sensibly for a couple of days and averaged mid 30's mpg! But, to be honest I got bored, so went back to driving it in a fun (but of course responsible Whistle ) way, and this is when I get 27mpg on average. I'm very happy with the fuel consumption overall Thumbs Up 2013 Discovery HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black

I've been told before that Dec is a good time to screw a dealer to the wall as they have their end of year quotas to fulfil..... no harm in contacting Kam up front, he is a patient man as I can attest Thumbs Up

Also if we get a cold snap over the winter all 4x4's hold their value better = less chance of a discount!
Kam may be able to find you a 2008MY instead of a 2008.5MY at a good price and there will be less chance of that later in the year. There is also a price rise in the pipeline 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

What are you looking to spend Val? Very Happy

It may sound like hearsay to the unfamiliar, but it's really worth having a chat with Kam - run your requirements past him and see what he can come up with. There are several members here who are driving around in cars successfully sourced or financed through him and it won't cost you a bean to ask. Often you can't see the wood for the trees so another pair of eyes can be very useful. Up to you mate Thumbs Up
