Clicking from AUX

Recently, when I put the stereo on Aux, there is a very faint, repetitive clicking noise. It gets noticeablt louder when I plug the ipod in.

Its not the cable, as the noise is there with or without the cable, but the cable does make it louder

Anyone had this before, and reckon its an easy one for the dealer to fix?

Am i winning yet for most faults in shortest time of ownership?

Seems only to be their when set to Aux, and linked to the volume level

Also - PDC went up the swanny last night. This is all getting a little tedious!

nope - light on the dash is flashing, and constant beep when in reverse (definitely no small people or other objects it was warning me of!)

I have been driving round with my towhitch in place this week and had no problems with the PDC. Today the ACC wouldn't engage - kept telling me "cruise not available" in the info screen when I tried to engage it........... I hope that it is just because the car hasn't been washed for a week and is very dirty.

Just a thought Bermy........................................... how dirty is your car? The PDC heads may need a wash Whistle 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

My ACC was "salted" up, washed the car and made sure the black box was well cleaned and after a short test drive I have a working ACC..................... and a large stone chip on the bonnet from following a lorry that threw up a chipping which landed on the bonnet edge. Big Cry Big Cry Cannot win today! Couldn't find diesel in town either 2 x shell filing stations run dry, Sainsbury and Tesco run dry and finally last resort Morrison's Supermarket had 3 pumps out of 6 pumping diesel, just as well that I keep a "just in case" stock in the garage at home! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

The clicking comes from the AUX. It's a faint clickerty click, clickerty click.
It is the same on mine, bu only happens when the unit is set to AUX, but nothing is plugged into the AUX socket. One the iPod is connected and turned on, it stops.
To stop is, either turn off the head unit or change the source to something other than AUX.

The AUX wiring is probably fairly near to some other oscillating power source - this noise happens in PC soundcards too if you select an input with nothing connected to it. I believe the socket acts an "aerial" and picks up the stray signals from the power source - once you plug something into it, this effect is removed. I seem to remember knowing the electrical reasons for this once, but can't recall them now... Embarassed
