Judging by the number of S/C RRS and FFRR's at the LR Senior Management Meeting at Gaydon last Monday there will shortly be a heap of low miles, fully loaded cars coming into dealers in the next couple of months, which will push values down even further. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Gavin, to be fair, that's the cheapest by some way with nearly 60k miles. But, the point is true. My SC costs £800 a year extra to run over the TDv6 (assuming 7000 miles). - Yes, it will depreciate a bit faster. Yes, it cost me less and is fully loaded..... 2022 P440e AB |

7,000 miles at 12 mpg and £5 a gallon = £2,900 7,000 miles at 24 mpg and £5 a gallon = £1,450 Difference £1,450 ? Or is your s/c doing 17.5 mpg ? Anyway, cost aside, I simply prefer torque over BHP. Torque feels better to me in most real life situations. I aint a boy racer, I just like to be able to turn a big tap on to overtake or cruise so effortlessly at highish speeds. Other considerations are time spent refueling (and limited range) and (whisper it) a niggling sense of guilt at low mpg (only niggling mind, not serious enuff to but a bus pass or anything ). Each to their own, I hope you are very very happy in your S/C RRS TDv8 HSE Rimini Disco 4 TDv6 HSE Ipanema Defender 90, 200tdi CSW |

I think you're right Smarticus, the TDV8 is a nicer car all round. The only areas it will loose out is noise and from the lights. The TD is eaiser to drive with that torque and miles better offroad, with much greater range to boot. But I guess not many SC are driven offroad. |

Pelyma, I bet not too many TDv8's are driven off-road either!

Kaine - you are spot on. Not really a matter of opinion, more of fact IMHO. What matters to some though, is that the SC is a bargain to buy second hand. Much cheaper than the TDv8. I reckon though that the total cost of ownership will be the similar. I.E. A more expensive TDv8 will depreciate less, cost less to run but more to buy. An SC is cheaper to buy (an equivalent second hand car), will depreciate faster and costs more to run. In the long term, and i'm keeping mine for 5 years, i reckon my RRS will be worth £15k. A five year old TDv8, well that might be worth £3k more. 2022 P440e AB |
