I have put my car in a number of times for MOT with incorrectly spaced letters on the number plate. It comes back with an advisory point but not a fail....Hee Hee !

Because until recently that wasn't a failure item. Now unless it is legal (and for vehicles Post 1999) has the correct font, spacing and BS number it will be an MoT failure. Darren Griffin

I think the extra rear spoiler is of doubtful taste too..................... what about the "stanless steel" exhaust as well, very bespoke item that! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

I know someone who works in a test centre and he will pass a vehicle fitted with illegal plates if the correct ones are in the boot!
Saves all the bother of swaping them twice.
I live in Kent and there is a local RRS 05 reg with black and silver plates which he had had for over 12 months.
Not too many traffic officers here.
My son was stopped for speeding last week with illegally spaced plates and was told it would have to be a really nasty officer to do you for plates as its too much paperwork for a £30 fine!

England 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black

I got a £30 fine for my plate when I had the M3 for spacing!!! My plate is N90 ALE, as my name is Dale you can figure out what the changes are, and still to this day don't know where the T Censored T was who done me Must have been unmarked as I am very aware of marked cars/cameras etc (not so bad now I not got M3)

I don't think it's a failure point yet, but next year's MOT may be another story... Whistle
