Because until recently that wasn't a failure item. Now unless it is legal (and for vehicles Post 1999) has the correct font, spacing and BS number it will be an MoT failure. Darren Griffin Editor PocketGPSWorld.Com |

I know someone who works in a test centre and he will pass a vehicle fitted with illegal plates if the correct ones are in the boot!

I got a £30 fine for my plate when I had the M3 for spacing!!! My plate is N90 ALE, as my name is Dale you can figure out what the changes are, and still to this day don't know where the T T was who done me Must have been unmarked as I am very aware of marked cars/cameras etc (not so bad now I not got M3)

I don't think it's a failure point yet, but next year's MOT may be another story...
