Adaptive down...

Well my adaptive headlight failed yesterday, 2.5 month old, 2500 Km.
Started the car and got the flashing amber light. Went to the dealer, had software upgraded, but was ok only for few minutes.
It seems there is a problem with the LH motor, when I switch the lights on the left one points to the ground.

Well new headlight in order, should be here next week

Anybody else had a similar failure? '08 RRS TDV8
I converted my diesel RRS to run on an environmentally friendly mixture of caribou fat and baby seals oil

Please let us know successful the replacement is... does this mean you're driving around with one headlight not working properly? I would have thought they'd have thrown a loan car at you for that... Confused

I hope to get the replacement by tomorrow, Wednesday at the latest. I will let you know if it solves the problem.

Yes the left headlight is at the lower setting(pointing down)

Thats a bit worrying - I would have thought that in the event of a failure the light would have frozen at some (useful) default kindof straight ahead position...Maybe if you know where the plugs are AND the adaptive loom is seperate to the lighting loom it would be possible to, while it is briefly working, unplug the adaptive loom and freeze the light where it is??? Cheers

Dont forget the adaptive part of the light are not the full lights, so you can still drive around and still see where you are going, just not around bends, or at least thats how it appears on mine some of my Previous cars

Well like I said I can see the LH one pointing to the ground.

Yes I would have thought too that they had some kind of fail safe feature.
I do not want to play around too much with wires since the car is under warranty, but later when it gets darkish I will try a couple of combinations pulling the fuse and see what I get and let you know. '08 RRS TDV8

Well, I just checked, the LH light does not go through the usual Mr. Bean routine, it's just stuck at a low position.
Removing the fuse does nothing.
Guess I'll have to wait for the new headlight '08 RRS TDV8

New headlight arrived this morning........but DOA, have to wait another few days for another one.... Sad '08 RRS TDV8

Ok, final update.

New headlight arrived today, installed, problem solved.

Man, feels like I'm talking to myself...... Very Happy '08 RRS TDV8
