United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black
Tyre Pressures on 22" wheels

Hi Guys,

Hoping to pick up my sport on saturday - private purchase - after almost 12 months of inner turmoil and debate whether to leave the relative safety and reliability of Japan and Germany and take a risk on the 'dark side'! Finally did it and have bought a 2006, 56 plate (10 months old), Java Black with black interior, 12000 miles, blue tooth, side steps and 22" wheels for £38,500.

I have a couple of concerns:

1. The wheels are brand new - overfinch copies - with brand new pirelli tyres. What pressure should I be running these at?
2. The brake calipers are rusty as f**k! I took it to the supplying dealer - stratstone bushbury in wolverhampton - and even though I hadn't yet bought the car asked about the calipers and whether they would be replaced under warranty. The guy had a look and agreed that they could 'try' but LR might say no because it was linked to wear and tear? I thought these cars were built to go anywhere!! The car has never been in salt water or out of the midlands and the calipers are just lumps of rust. Someone said that it could be caused by taking the car to a 'hand' carwash that sprays caustic soultion on the wheels to clean them?

Any ideas.......

Oh, by the way - Hi everybody!

Cheers

Gary Very Happy Best Wishes

Gary

Welcome - 22's are going to give you a very very hard ride. I presume you've bought a diesel and if so the break calipers look like crap from day one, check the drums aswell - they rust badly too. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Hi very annoyed.

Yes, 2.7 diesel HSE.

To be honest, I drove around in the car for a good couple of hours and thought the ride was smooth as silk!
Having said that, most (all) of my cars have been sports cars, coupes with big wheels and low profiles so I suppose I am used to it?

What can I do about the brakes then? Paint them - or carry on complaining to LR.

My calipers on my 4 year old bmw look like they did the day I picked up the car. Surely this cant be right. Best Wishes

Gary

You could try and keep complaining - I havn't heard much re the calipers being replaced under warranty but there's always a first. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Does anyone know why they rust so quickly then? Are they not galvanised - Are they poor quality?

I just dont get it - A 50k vehicle that we have to accept poor quality? Why?

All my mates are taking the p**s saying that the car will be in the garage more than on the road and will cost me a fortune, etc, etc......

I hope to god they are not going to be proved right! Big Cry Best Wishes

I cant find anything on calipers - I will try at the dealers and moan like f**k - I'm good at that!

If not, it looks like I will have to paint them?

I did consider a full replacement/upgrade but it looks like SILLY MONEY for Brembo!!

Any other ideas?

Just ordered my first add on - a set of stainless steel sill covers from - this may not be the correct name so apologies in advance - Namrod? Question Best Wishes
