Not having done that myself I can't personally comment, but it seems it's closer than it should be. 20s are such a common upgrade, let alone also potentially being factory supplied that we'd have seen this before...

I’ve fitted 295 45 Pirelli’s on my Stormers, based on feedback here that many have gone down this road rather than the factory fit of 275 40’s. For reasons of comfort & kerb rash protection.

I'd be inclined to agree with you rrsjo it makes me uneasy when I see the minimal clearances I have. Albeit disappointing as many on here have said they go for the 295 45’s, but then I wonder how many are going around with clearances like I have ??

I still find it odd that those with 295/45s haven't mentioned anything about this before (or at least anything that I ever remember hearing).... but as rrsjo says, who wants to have a tyre go at 70mph on the motorway

275 x 45 should give you an extra 5mm clearance ( 7mm total) over and above the 295 x 45 ones. The speedo would also read approx. correct. |

275 45’s are what I’d like, as I’d prefer the higher profile over the 40’s for comfort reasons.

Just realised that your original wheels were not 20", therefore your speedo will NOT be anywhere near correct and will need recalibrating. |

Well my original wheels were 18’s with 55 series tyres fitted. The 20’s with 40’s fitted as they would come from the factory would be pretty much the same, as with a “taller” rim, the lower profile tyre would compensate accordingly.

Rupert i checked the clearance on my tyres tonight and i have at least an inch or so clearance so i would say that yours is not right, mine is TDV8 with Brembo brakes and it was fitted with 20's as standard, maybe that's why mine is different some of my Previous cars
