United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Java Black
Sat Nav Voice Guidance

Can anyone help with the following:

On my old (99) RR the sat nav helpfully announced directions such as "left turn ahead" ... "turn left" etc. etc. coinciding with a little diagram with an arrow that went green when you should turn / which lane to take etc.

Nothing I do seems to activate voice guidance on my current model, - voice guidance is on and the woman tells me "please refer to the map" .... then remains silent for the duration of the journey! I also get "guidance will start when you start the specified route" .... then no guidance at all ...

i've checked the settings and cannot find anything that is obvious, - has the system got the facility to give voice instructions? or is this one of those "improvements" that aren't improvements at all?

I find - for instance - when faced aith a roundabout with several exits, even on maximum zoom it is not clear from the map alone which exit to take!!!!

Any help appreciated

It does have voice guidance. Have a look at the Sat Nav Interactive Guide on this Forum.

thanks - but i've tried that - and been through turning voice guidance on ...

the trouble is it just doesn't speak other than saying "please refer to the map" !!!

Am I doing something stupid? - has anyone else had this trouble?

Two things to look at here.

Firstly go to your main menu by pressing the button on the right below the screen. Click on settings (I think!) and make sure that all guidance is orange.

Secondly check that the voice nav is on. On your nav screen touch the home (looks like a house) icon in the bottom left of your screen. Now look at the bottom right of the screen and see if voice guidance is selected, if not then change setting.

Hope this helps. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Is your satnav in offroad mode, perhaps? Press the LH hard button under the monitor and make sure you have selected "On Road Navigation". I never tried offroad navigation on the pavement, but I suspect there would be no turn-by-turn directions in that mode.

Bet it's set to mute! Rolling Eyes

Enter a destination and set it going.

Whilst on route, press the home button 'picture of a house'.

Then in the bottom right there is a speaker and next to it a speaker with a line through it.

Press the one without the line through it.

Hey presto, bet it works!

I've been trying to think what the solution was when I had the same problem when I picked my RRS up. That was it.... it was muted Very Happy
