Hi All,
I have been doing a lot of research on retrofitting xenon's to my RRS and have come up with the following

1. It is better to go with original bi-xenon if you can find/afford them
2. Aftermarket xenon kits may cause focus issues (not to mention warranty)
3. Xenon are much brighter with a sharper cut-off which some people claim gives poorer night vision as your iris closes down more compared to halogen
4. You can't flash a xenon light if you replace the high beams as well

I have read some good reports on the Philips Crystal Vision which claim to have a whiter light and substantially increased light output, however they are pretty expensive at roughly half the price of a cheap xenon HID kit.

I would be most interested in people experience of xenon's and whether they really are better than a high quality halogen.

I'm not sure if I can get a Xenon kit for my 5 series so I've just ordered a pair of Crystal Vision.

Hi Mike,
I would be very interested in your observations of the crystal vision.
Supertrotter - fitting after market xenon kits is meant to be pretty straight forward as you are just replacing the bulb and finding a spot to mount the ballast. They actually use less power than stock (35w vs 55w).

Hi guys,

Sorry finally got around to taking some photos.

In the pic below is the normal sidelight bulb and then the main headlight which is the Philips Crystal Vision.



You can clearly see the colouration difference.
At night they do make a difference and looking at them in person they seem a hell of a lot whiter and a lot cooler as well - they do stand out more compared to your regular halogen bulb which we previously had.
They dont compare to Xenon as predicted purely as one is a gas unit and one is a bulb fair and square but they do look good! Michael Potter

yeah xenon and halogen cannot be compared side by side.
