About to take the plunge on a SC...!

In my last post I asked about opinions between the performance of a chipped TDV6 and the TDV8 as the supercharger seemed mad on ownership costs and petrol consumption...however I do less than 10,000 miles p/a and having read posts along the lines of..."you only live once, get the supercharged" I am now very very tempted with a couple of 05 plate supercharged models for around £38,000. Can someone help me with the following questions``:

1.I mainly drive at weekends on motorways from London to Scotland/The North and am interested to know how many miles I can expect between fill ups?

2. Will a 3 year old supercharged be a nightmare on reliability or should I avoid a relatively early 05 plater?

2. What should I expect to sell the car for in 2ish years with about 35,000 to 40,000 on the clock??

Any advice would be great!!!!

The oldest you'll get is just over 2 years so if I were you I'd get a 55 plate and if you have any problems they should rear their ugly head within the warranty period. Resale is a difficult thing to predict but at a guess a 4 year old SC with 40000 on the clock should fetch low £20k region. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
2009 Alaska TDV8 - Gone and much missed.

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

Braider, don't forget there is also the 4.4l V8 without the S/C - of course the performance isn't the same as the S/C, but fuel consumption is a little less frightening and it was a rather unpopular in this country so suffers equally dire depreciation to the S;/C. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

Thanks guys, am in a real dilemma as although the SC is very tempting and is now quite a good used buy I suspect the overall cost of 2-3 years ownership of a TDV8 might be cheaper; tales of woe from other members SC depreciation is scaring me off!!

The worst of the depreciation will have taken place already on the SC, yes the rate of depreciation will still be higher than the TDV8 but like you said in your first post you only live once so if you can take a bit more of a hit then why not go for the SC.
Running wise it is not looking like the TDV8 is being that economical MPG wise.

1. Well, you'll get around 17mpg using your fancy new radar cruise control locked at 80 MPH. That will be a range of around 250 miles. £70 to fill up from empty.

2. Pass - Crystal ball gazing. Get a warranty. Might cost you around £1000. THink of the savings you made on buying second hand!.

3. £25K. They are still losing £1000 a month! Big Cry

You will love the car. I bought mine second hand too. Don't forget to keep your fridge on to chill the beers for the guys in the back.

(There is a fully loaded SC in todays Sunday Times for £34,995.) 2022 P440e AB
