Pull the lever inside the car in the passenger footwell then just off centre on the bonnet (as you look at it on the right) is a catch that needs lifting up. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

I would avoid doing this. Sounds stupid but the first time I decided to look at the unknown (engine) it would not close properly. I had to get LR assist to sort it. I checked the oil the other day with a differnt RRS and I found I had to give the bonnet a very hard slam to get it to shut.
- was worried about leaving hand shpa dents in the bonnet.

I think I have seen people report this before. Maybe that's why the catch is hard to see.

Only problem is that unlike other cars i have ever own they recommend chacking the oil manually. I am sure there is a good reason why you cany check the oil electronically probably that it is unrelable when going up a 60 degree slope in - 40 degrees C.

Of course it would help if they put a sensor on the dip stick!!! LR really needs to redesign the RRS (and I assume the D3 s the same design) as it is as good as useless - the only time it is accurate is when there is so little oil in the engine that nothing is shown on the dipstick.

The best way to close the bonnet is to let it drop from about 12" - you don't need to press it down after that! I had the bonnet lift onto the safety catch the first time I checked the oil and refilled the washer bottle, took the car into the dealer who adjusted it and recommended the drop close method! Somebody on the site did press too hard and
left an indentation on the bonnet top in the early days too! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Coz those dammed silly guys over in Dearborn said so because if they had put it in the right hand footwell the majority of owners (who have LHD cars) would never find it??? Mr. Green 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

YES!!
When I but my first Freelander in Mexico, I was surprise: Shocked the bonnet release was in the passenger’s side (Right Side). The Disco 2 was in my side, and now my RRS has it in my side too. Thumbs Up Yuri
