Have done some more digging and yes NAC is a long standing Chinese Govt. Co.
I don't know who (in China ) may be interested in PAG.
Bear in mind that MG Rover sold for £53m and PAG is on the market for nearly $5.3b.US
Interesting that they are assembling the MG product in UK but one can see the marketing strategy behind "the pedigree of the marque" and they will deliver the product into the market place so as to maximise the return on their investment. Is your Govt giving them preferential treatment to import the components for assembly?
Furthermore they appear to be basing their R&D in UK and this would probably have more to do with the short term availability of people with the required skills.
Whilst it is good to NOT see the old brands disappear one has to wonder (under Chinese control ) at the long term prospects of them retaining any of their "character".
Might be a case of survive and perish.

United Kingdom 2009 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

I totally agree with Martin's comments
The engineering, admin, managment etc is so tight it would be a brave and harsh move to split it up.

Let us all just spare a thought for TB and his work colleagues
It must be quite worrying to say the least, and after watching the MG Rover turn around just down the road. You don't stop playing because you get old, You get old because you stop playing.

07 TDV6 been and gone. 08 TDV6 been and gone. 08.5 TDV8 in evaluation mode and now gone. BMW 535D M sport Been and gone, Now time for RRS No4 - TDV6 HSE in Stornaway with Ebony - 09 Model 6 months old.
RS Cosworth 4x4 Stage 2 Mint for summer
Audi TT
Astra VXR for the daughter.

I wouldn't be surprised at all to see LR go East! In the long term I don't think it'll be good for LR. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
2009 Alaska TDV8 - Gone and much missed.

I think it is all a smoke screen, you get the public, politicians and unions convinced it is going to be private equity or the chinese that are going to be the owners, then you at the last minute say of course if we could reduce the number of factories and thereby our costs we won't sell. The Fl2 is already built on the same line as the x type, Geoff Polites says the big problem is over capacity, why not sell off a factory for housing reduce capacity and over heads, suddenly a very profitable business and a big chunk of cash in the bank to bail out Ford.
