LIMP MODE?

LIMP MODE?

Hi any help guys....? car still going into limp mode after 50mph and loss of power... Ive had the fuel tank drained as there was a little petrol contamination in diesal engine... car is very smooth in idle and can hear the turbo go in too but just cuts out at around 50... was told just to drive it unitl all petrol is burned out any clues..?
someone has said it could be the high pressure fuel pump...?

Hi martin, i had this problem early on in the life of mine, after about 150 miles, it was due to a defective turbo in my case, and the engine mangement kicking in to restrict power. had to bring it back to dealers for a new turbo. mite be worth checking it in for a service in case you do any real damage by continuing to drive. 2.7 TDV6 HSE 2007 finnally arrived

Oh sorry Envoy just woke up from Sunday Whistle

Right this limp home problem I am very confused.
If I look at his car spec it says 4.2 SC then in this thread he says he has petrol in the Diesel? Which one is it Martinn?
It will shut down the power if the ECU detects too much positive pressure from the supercharger (boost) to protect the engine, or if it detects too little it will also respond to limp home.
On the Diesel it does the same. Too much or too little boost to match the engine temperature, engine load, throttle position, road speed ect etc. If there are any air leaks between the Turbo or Supercharger, which ever it is, and the engine this can cause this type of probem. This would be the only usefull advice because this is the only symptom you can look for at home without the Diagnostic kit. Have a good look at all the pipes and couplings between the Turbo/SC up to the throttle housing.
If you have some carburettor cleaner or brake cleaner spray it around the joints and if the engine tone changes you have an air leak.

but where are the the pipes and couplings between the Turbo/SC up to the throttle housing..? How can I locate them...?

Well the easiest way would be start at the air filter and follow the intake path all the way to the manifold.
You will need to take the covers off to get to see the throttle/manifold ass
If no joy - off to the dealer.
Only problem is if the dealer knows about your fuel mix up it is chargeable Big Cry Big Cry You don't stop playing because you get old, You get old because you stop playing.

AIR FLOW METER??

ive tried taking the car up slowly and it goes pass the limp mode... meaning above 40mph...
so do you think it could be the air flow meter or could it be anything else....?
the car olny reads message "Engine Sytem Fault" when it is revved quite hard above 40mph...

any clues...?

its not something real daft like a blocked tank breather, try it with the fuel cap off, just a thought some of my Previous cars

Personally if you are worried about a warranty issue because of wrong fuel use....then I would take it to a LR independant specialist first for evaluation and advice.OK they'll charge you for their time but isn't it worth it Question

The problem is the longer it goes on and the more you mess with it could cause some very expensive damage. Get it to a garage or a dealer....it might just save you from needing a new engine....OUCH ££££££ Exclamation TDV6 - gone
