My guess is that the engine management will limit the output in any case for the first miles, my D2 certainly did both when new and when the engine management was reset at 40k miles. Giveaway was the code hadn´t been written to limit the power available to the cruise control, hitting resume clearly had access to much more go than simply flooring the throttle. From memory it stepped up performance at around 1000 and again at aroun d 3500 miles. This probably explains why dealer demonstraters went well but buyers were initially disappointed....

Certainly the effect was as obvious with our ´07MY TDV6 but I bet its still there, many drivers comment that the engine loosens with miles, could partially be the ECU allowing more go as the miles build up....

As the RRS is an auto you are limited about not labouring in gear etc so as long as you don´t cane it I wouldn´t worry. Cheers

Simon

Its not that i dont trust Kaine, but i dont want him to have the same dilema as i did after driving the V8, you WANT ONE, so i was just doing what any mate would do,saving him some money Whistle

Allegedly.....

Modern engines don't really need the runnng process as engines are now made to such exacting tolerances.

I ran ours in gently for 1st 1,000 miles just for peace of mind.

Besides, it just builds the anticipation (Well in a TDV8 it does, in a TDV6 it just delays the anti-climax of 1st time you welly it! Rolling Eyes ) Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

Yeah, supposedly running-in isn't so important these days. Mind you, it's a braver man than me that doesn't bother.

I suppose as long as the engine is covered under warranty then it doesnt really matter, or does it, i will only be keeping the car for a couple of years, so should i worry about it Confused some of my Previous cars
