Tyre wear

Guys, the wifes RRS is running on 20's and has covered 12k miles.

The outer edges have worn but on closer inspection I've noticed that the inner side of the right hand tyre is through to the canvas (badly).

THe left inner tyre is ok, just worn slightly but no canvas showing.

Is this unusual tyre wear helped by the fact that it is knocking very bad at the front end, think it's the ball joint thing that has been posted on here.

Could this affect the tyre wear???

Good God 12K Shocked and the tyres are through to the canvas, i would say that there is a problem with the alignment i would get it down to the dealers and complain some of my Previous cars

My tyres are 20's and they have done 8k of what i would call quite spirited driving and while i was washing the car today i had a look as you do and the tyre wear is minimal but even across the tyre. some of my Previous cars

I've done 16k in my s/chrgd on 20's and the front tyre wear is pathetic Evil or Very Mad outer edges badly worn - but alignment is spot on.... it's a common feature of big SUV's several tyre shops have said they see this all the while on RRS - X5's Porky Pigs etc etc

Had to replace mine at 16k miles, but bought a brand new set of 4 wheels and tyres for £800......less than the cost of the tyres alone......isn't ebay a wonderful thing! Razz' .

There is absolutely no substitute for a genuine lack of preparation.

TDV8 HSE MY10 with pretty much everything including a vase of daffs on the back shelf, tropical fish collection in the centre console, hamsters in the spare tyre and finally sheep on the passenger seats.....for weight distribution, what else??

I bought a set of 4 new tyres for a lowly sum of £300 & will get Chips Away or similar to attend to the odd scuff I have on my wheels - I think they charge approx £50 on average per wheel - so all 4 refurbed to as New for £200???

So £500 tops for new all round Thumbs Up

Outer edge tyre wear is very common on all the big 4x4's due to the weight. However they should not wear down to the canvas at that mileage and if so I would expect the whole tyre to be bald.
Sounds like wheel allignement is an issue and you may have a fight with the dealer. TDV6 - gone
TDV8 - gone
