Bucklers Hard is too small for the Victory to be built there but some of Nelson's earlier commands were built there. The largest ships built there were about 68 guns, big but not the size of Victory.

I love Bucklers Hard, many happy childhood memories there watching all of those warships being built!

Hi pussy
I wasn't able to find out much about The Falie.
As you know she was purchased by the South Australian (State) Government and chartered out for fishing, whale watching, cage diving, sailing training and also cruises.Link Here
When she was found to have severe hull corrosion the repairs were estimated at many times your figure of $1.3m and the Government decided not to have her repaired.
The Company that was running the charters has since been de-registered
There is lots of further information here but none of it seems to be up to date.
I contacted the former charter company and they (Carol ) confirmed that the Government will not be repairing the ketch. There is a large Port redevelopment happening which will include a maritime museum and it looks like the old girl will be part of that. This site will probably have updates in the future but has nothing at the moment.
FYI the Local Newspaper may be worth watching for updates.
Cheers

Bow down Bow down Bow down Bow down Bow down

thank you so much for your time in finding all the goodies.

stunning!

Envoy and I have been sailing out of Mauldon, out of the Black water and onto the south east coast on a Thames Sailing Barge called the "Reminder". It was a fantastic few days out at sea. We were out in high seas and had to turn back and shelter in the mouth of the river Colne at Colchester, the cook came above decks and said the meal had landed on the floor as the barge was pitching heavily. The barge was called the "Reminder" as she was in her time the fastest sailing barge. She was a bowsprit but, when we were aboard she was tired and was not able to do her stuff, her bowsprit was missing and they had had trouble with the top mast and she had a brace round it to keep it together. She was not able to go under full sail and they were constantly worried about it. The "Reperter" was in the match and the "xylanite" and allot of others. One managed to bend a lea board, which was made from steel. Another got snarled up with a fishing net as they were too close to a marker bouy. We went up to "ozey" bouy and the "Xylanite" complete with bowsprit flew past everything until a container ship came past and took her wind. One of the other passengers was a nice old boy but every time you spoke to him his teeth fell out Shocked

Looking through the rigging as black as ebony as the sun rose on a glistening sea, shimmering silver, the sound of the sea and with a slight coldness to the air with huge terracotta sails swollen with the morning air.

astounding. Very Happy no regrets!
