Pussy, do you know what has happened to the SV Carrick previously called the City of Adelaide. She was part of the Scottish Maritime Museum but they ran out of money to restore her. She is no longer at her berth at Irvine and I haven't read anything about her being sold for scrap or towage - at one stage she was going to be bought by the City of Adelaide in Aus and taken out there. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

This was all that I could find.................... I asked because she used to be the clubhouse for the RNVR Scotland and was moored up on a berth in the city of Glasgow until she sank for a 2nd time and couldn't be insured and the club couldn't afford to maintain her. She was an historic ship as one of the fastest WOOL clippers on the Australian trades. She was moored at Greenock for many years as a training hulk for the RN until the RNVR took her over and towed up the river where she lay and slowly rotted away. Must have been low tide when I drove passed recently and couldn't see her then if she is still there!

I am waiting for the editor of "Traditional Boats and Tall Ships" to get back to me, it is annoying when you think she was put in such regard as the Victory, SS Great Britain and the Cutty Sark!

That sounds like one of the guest publications on Have I Got News For You I knew all about train/plane spotters but not tall ship spotters. Actually, in the little village opposite Shmoogle Towers in Cornwall there is a boatyard that appears to do tall ship renovations - they "floated one off" last year while we were there. 2009 Outstanding Contribution Award - Joint Runner Up 2009 'Tech-Head Of The Year' Award - Runner Up Like it here? No, I'm sorry - I didn't get any. I just remember thinking ignorantly, "ooh, that's just like off the Onedin Line!". Looked good though... they launched into the estuary and when we came back later that evening it had gone. Someone from the one of the village shops said it was going to be used for those uhmm... I forget the name of them, where they have a bunch of kids on board for a week doing the outward bounds certificate or something. There's another one in dock now, that looks like they haven't started on it....

Bucklers Hard is too small for the Victory to be built there but some of Nelson's earlier commands were built there. The largest ships built there were about 68 guns, big but not the size of Victory.
