Just been in at the tyre shop... put a nail through one and had a chat with the dealer regards costs for new when the time comes. Since i'm a valued customer i can have a Conti Cross Contact 295/40/20 for $780 rather than the usual $890!!!! Works out to be $3120 for four, and only about 20,000 km's....... Had a quick look on ebay and with the exchange rate at the moment i can get four new wheels plus tyres for $2950 freight inclusive, as long as i can get around import tax (just get a receipt attached stating replacement under warranty ) Wondering what everyone thinks of the Pirelli zero's? No rain here so wet weather handing doesn't matter and i have 18's for offroad work so just interested in dry handling, noise and milage.... any info would be great

Hi, i have Conti Cross Contact in 19" on my G4,, all still good mind, but wanted a spare set of rims/tyres, Got a set of 4 alloys with Pirelli zero's (new) via e-blag for £ 460, not the cheapest, but seam to be the average,

The tyres alone, after doing a quick search on black circle, were £220 supplied only !! Glad people are going the 20/22" alloy route, saves me a fortune

There seams to be a opinion than the Pirelli's are a bit tougher on the side wall that the Conti's ??  997 TT, RR TDV8 Vog SE 90 V8 Hybrid

I replaced my tires with nokianWR all weather plus 255/50/19
They are V rated for those who like to speed(speeds up to 150 mph/240kph)
Tread wear warranty is 60000 mi / 1000.00 Km
I did not want to buy winter tires and have to switch tires every six months.
These tires are built in Finland and are a great all weather tire.
Living in central Alberta, Canada it is not unusual to have snow in May.
As for price I paid $1750.00 Canadian dollar. Don't know the exchange rate for your currancy.

Just read in a magazine that Michelin has desigened a new tyre specially for SUV's. It's called Latitude Tour HP and is developed together with Porsche for the Cayenne. It will also be standard mounted on Q7, Touareg and the new X5. Michelin claim it will last 35% longer than competition. Will come as 19" to 23".

I have looked at the options available - BUT - for the Supercharged , I must take into account the speed and load index....

I was in the tyre shop this weekend - I have four new Contis I picked up some time ago sitting in my garage.

The reason was this.... the front tyres [ no matter what make ] all appear to wear on the outer edges ... however the rear tyres remain ok accross the entire tread. The tracking is perfect and so is the tyre pressure.

Apparently it is a common thing with the sport [ and other large SUV's ] .. the tyre shop expert said that although the edges had worn - the front tyres were still perfectly legal - with 4mm / tread .. the rears had 5mm ......... not bad considering its 18mth old - 15000 on the clock. He suggested I come back when they have 17000 on the clock and change them then.
