Lights Under Door Mirrors

Has anyone been able to figure out how to remove the lights under the door mirrors? The owners manual hasn't been of much assistance with this matter. I want to put LEDs in those too.

The only documentation I can find (other than complete removal of the mirror assembly from the door ) refers back to the D3 workshop manual for how to remove the glass only.

""Remove the passenger side door mirror glass. For additional information, refer to Global Technical Reference (GTR) Discovery 3/LR3 Workshop Manual Section 501-09, Exterior Mirror Glass. (currently the Range Rover Sport workshop manual does not include a section for removing the mirror glass, please refer to the Discovery 3 manual section as the mirror glass remove/install process is identical)""end quote

In this case the glass is clipped to a sub assembly inside the mirror and to remove it:
Tilt the mirror fully up
Grasp the glass with your fingers ,by at least two points, on the lower edge and pull to disengage the clips.!!!
No mention of how hard you need to pull !!!
Looking at the illustration this gives SOME access to the area behind the mirror and perhaps (only perhaps ) the inside of the light unit.
All very IFFY !
Are you sure the outside lens doesn't un-clip like say the internal lights ?
All this may not be much help.
Cheers
Peter

According to the Owners Manual, the lenses should come out like on the interior lights and the license plate lights. I can't get it off!

I tried to photograph the LEDs. I guess I didn't realize how difficult it is to photograph lights. It doesn't show up during the day, and the flash drowns them out at night.

Embarassed

Yeh !
Best time is early dusk or somewhere under really good artificial lights without the flash
Look forward to seeing your final results.

I was hoping the wing mirror lights would be HSE standard in most countries. Apparently only SC has them… and even so, I’m not sure over here they do.

I use to park in very poor light conditions in the country side, and every light available would be very helpful… so, should I be able to install the mirror lights by my self, or do I have to get the entire mirror SC piece?

Can you share with us how you removed the covers, I'm trying to figure that one out as well.

I tried PM'ing you but I can't yet because I don't have 5 posts yet, well here is the first post.
