Tim, I just purchased this set from Rau here in L.A., yes the price is extremely high (I paid a bit less, I guess they give discounts to locals...) but the quality is superb, the best I have ever seen from an aftermarket supplier. Install takes about 5 minutes - to a trained professional. The airbag comes off in no time (you loosen a couple of clips with a long, skinny tool through the small keyholes on each side of the steering wheel and the whole thing pops off, then you undo a couple of spade connectors on its back and voila, you have access to the bolt that holds the wheel attached to the steering column). The shifter takes about 10 seconds to remove and replace... |

Umbertob it was your post and pics over on RRnet that prompted me to ask W.Rau about overseas orders.

Even now that I have seen it done, I would not want to do it myself, either. But it's not a labor intensive job for a shop with the proper tools. |

I just checked this with my LR dealer. They say if the wheel is OEM Land Rover and the change is just cosmetic AND the switch is made by a LR dealer, there is no warranty problem whatsoever. 2010 TDV6 3.0 HSE Santorini Black Tan Full Leather Last edited by quantz on Wed Feb 16 2011 11:09pm. I replaced my coarse OEM wheel and gear shift knob on my 09 with the new smooth leather Nappa wheel and knob I purchased on EBAY.UK. I just followed the instructions posted on this site and it was very easy. The airbag removal was simple and I just used a coat hanger I cut to resemble the $40 factory tool. I adapted the smooth nappa leather Vogue gear shift knob that came with leather gater to fit on shaft. A little bit more time as I had to trim the leather to fit but it came out perfect! mike murphy |
