70mph in a 30 zone no excuse what so ever should have done time and been banned for life from driving. its prats like this who may kill one of your family! The family are just as bad by dragging the little girl and her family through court.. They should get hammered for a couple of million to support the wee girl through her entire life! Take responsibilty for your actions means very little nowadays! |

If I recall correctly, the 70 mph limit was imposed on motorways as a direct result of the e-type which was often found driving at 140mph+ |

I admit I've got a bit of a lead right foot. When I was learning to drive, my driving instructor picked up on the leadfootitus and used to take me round the country lanes in south wales. Out there I would dutifully stick to the 60 speed limit and not much below it. I didn't like using the brakes, and so would set the car up correct for the corners and just power through them.

But not on public roads thank you, there are enough idiots on them without folks out to see what happens when you get it wrong! Not long after I passed my test the local police training school opens it's doors for a public relations day and I went along for some lessons on their skid pan which was one of the best afternoon's of training and fun that I have ever had. It's a pity they don't open their facilities more often for folks to learn how to control their car. Certainly, judging by the number of fresh holes and the number of new sections of fence replacing mature hedgerows that have appeared on the roadsides in this area in the last 6 months there are a lot of drivers out there who need some formal training in car control, not just enough lessons to pass the driving test. Hardly a week goes by here when the recovery truck isn't out pulling a wreck out of a field or off a tree. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it 2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced 2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW |

2 years is a disgrace - any idiot driving that fast in a 30 zone should be locked up for a minimum of 10 years & a hefty fine for the ruined life of that little girl. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
