United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Java Black
Hello from a new RRS owner (well almost)

Firstly let me say hi to all you RRS people.
Well, finally took the plunge and decided to get myself a RRS TDV8. Managed to get a brand spanker MY08, Java with black interior, privacy windows, wangled some mats and paintshield/scothguard and just about 5% discount. Will pick it up next Monday 11th Feb..........can't wait, just a bit sad to see the back of my 535d M Sport, which has been a fantastic motor, 35,000 hard miles (has been re-mapped by DMS) and never missed a beat. So i suppose you will be hearing from me (new to this forum) a fair bit from now on. Will definitely get the RRS re-mapped but not sure who is best company to do it.

Regards,

Stewhoppy

DMS Re-map

Thanks for the welcome.
Everything is sorted so cannot wait for Monday when I collect the new baby.
I have been speaking to Mike Cooper of DMS regarding a re-map for the RRS TDV8. As usual he is quoting me impressive figures (328bhp and tons more torque) but having scoured through this forum it appears not many of you have used them for your cars. Who would you guys suggest for the RRS? DMS have a great reputation with BMW and Porsche owners and my own experiences with them have been absolutely spot on. I know from experience that BMW cannot detect the DMS re-map on their diagnostics etc. When I re-map the RRS I want to be sure that that LR cannot detect it. Who would you use and why? If any of you guys can enlighten me please do so.

Many Thanks,

Stewhoppy

There are a few places that have good press. Forum sponsor is Turbochip (obtain details from the Sponsors page) but other tuning companies are available Wink

I know DMS have a great rep in the BMW world, but as you have found out, they don't appear to have much experience with the RRS - not that you can see from the membership of this forum anyway.

Most upgrades are done in such a way as detection isn't supposedly possible. However, a greater problem, if you want to call it that, is that upgrades can get inadvertently wiped when LR perform upgrades etc on your car during routine servicing or for particular fault resolution. When this happens, the likes of Turbochip etc will happily reapply the upgrade FOC or for a minimal "admin" charge.

It is known that LR do NOT officially support upgrading in this manner and have recently sent a memo to a lot of dealers that do inhouse upgrades to ask nicely that they stop.

Yes, a couple of years ago BMW wiped the upgrade from the wifes X5. DMS came out a re-installed FOC.
I will make contact with Turbochip and speak with them. Will probably run the RRS in before I get it re-mapped anyway so have a bit of time to consider the options. Mind you my 535d was re-mapped the day after I collected it !
