To be honest, little things like illegal plates really annoy me. They don't look cool, they shout w Censored r to me. Almost as much as having fog lights on when it's not foggy! I agree with bungee, good on them! It may just be a money maker but these people are breaking the law, and should be dealt with.

Must admit I'm not a big fan of altered number plates either - I don't see any point in changing the font etc, but can see why you would space the letters differently if it makes sense. But it is illegal, so even if I did it myself I'd not expect to complain if I got caught. The problem I have with it, is that there are more important things for plod to be doing.... it's not a safety issue, they just think they'll be opening a can of worms. You're not telling me Mr Hardened Criminal is going to fall for that one anyway.

Umberto - over here, there's not an authority responsible for manufacturing the plates, you can get them made at any number of places. The DVLA creates the rules and regs around spacing, format and size - but then a lot of the companies that make the "illegal" ones always include a disclaimer saying that they're not to be used on the road. They know full well what people are going to, but as long as they've advised you that it's illegal that's their hands clean.
