Insurance: tracker or not

Hi,

would you go for :

1) about £500 insurance who required a tracker to be fixed plus extra for european coverage
2) about £700 insurance with 30 days european coverage included, off road, recovery...(LandRover Insurance)

?
Currently, my renewal is £739.2 with Admiral. Range Rover Vogue ‘17 TDV6

I'm with LR insuarnce, Mine is only about £460 per year! I have full no claims bonus though and it's the TDV6.

Tracker is expensive - not only the initial outlay but then the annual subscription after that. 2013 Discovery HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black

Shocked Did called them this morning...quote £681.68 with no no claim protection and £716.16 with it....Don't understand the difference. I am 31, got a driving licence for 13y, no accident and no motoring convinction, living in central london.... Same profile for you???

My no claim bonus is aroun 60% i believe, would that explain the difference? Range Rover Vogue ‘17 TDV6

You'll find that the hike in price is possibly because you are under 35 and there
is a definate price increase for London (or any city) whereas I live in rural Aberdeenshire. 2013 Discovery HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black

When I ordered the car Dexia wouldn't let me have their insurance without it, and I needed to go that route as I did the leasing through them Wink

My insurance is through Admiral, had my Scooby through them too. I now have a multi car policy, the TDV8 is aprox £350 (501euro) and the MG £425(609Euro) if you add both together then that was what I was paying for the MG alone last year from Elephant Shocked

LR give no discount for fitting a Tracker where I live........................ I am insured with them for both my RRS and my Defender, but they would not give me one policy to cover a minifleet.................... I am paying about the same as Alicat for living in a rural area that has an inner city postcode. I have just traded up from a TDv6SE to a TDv8HSE and my premium has gone up by £31, with 8 months still remaining to renewal. The only reason I stay with LR is that they are one of the few direct insurers who include offroad use as standard, none of the "majors" like directline will even quote you for it. The offroad cover is important for my Defender, which I only use as an offroad toy, I have taken my RRS onto forest tracks, but because I have the 90 as well i don't feel the need to try it out to test it's offroad capability to the limit (which are considerable and almost as high as the Defender's), but it is good to know that should I feel that I want to participate in a greenlaning day or some gentler offroading in my RRS I am fully covered for it. For the RRS, the inclusive cover for the contents of roofracks and trailers is much more important to me as I do a lot of windsurfing and carry several 1000's of pounds worth of boards, sails and masts on a small trailer - it's good to know that they are fully covered when I am towing it behind the RRS. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

It would be a complete joke if LR Insurance didn't cover off road though! After all THAT is what the car is built for by LR. I wonder at what point a normal policy would consider that you are "Off Road", could have some very nasty implications for some people. For example, I used to live up an unsurfaced "private" road that was not adopted by the council - wonder if they would have considered driving up that as "Off Road" Question 2013 Discovery HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black

E, I tried to find that out but it depends on the company. Basically for most of the "big" name insurers, they are consider that any road that isn't classified is considered to be offroad - so yes your unadopted road might be considered by some companies to be offroading. It's is one of those "grey" areas that nobody has actually defined. Maybe any insurance brokers who post here might be able to clear that one up? 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Welcome to the Forums RAC, I bet that your premium would go through the roof or they would not even insure you if you asked for offroad use though, and some of us do like to use the cars for what they were designed to do occassionally so want to be insured for the event. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
